Why is it important to use the right mayonnaise?

I used think that once you choose the best beef for your patty, your burger would already taste good. But as I was growing up, I figured that using the right mayonnaise makes a whole lot of difference. When I was little, I was very contented with the all-purpose mayonnaise that my mom uses for sandwiches. However, when I started growing up, I started wondering why real mayonnaise just tastes better. Real mayo seems to taste richer, while all-purpose mayo tasted very sour. So as a result, if you put real mayo into your burger and then add the freshest greens, you'd get the best burger experience with the sour after-taste.

Hello lime and welcome to myLot. Real mayonnaise or white salad dressing. Brand name mayonnaise or off brand. It all depends on your taste. I personally don't like real mayonnaise. I prefer the white salad dressing type mayonnaise to the real stuff. To me the real mayonnaise tastes rancid. My daughter's family will only use Miracle Whip salad dressing. We don't put the white salad dressing or mayonnaise on our hamburgers. It's mustard and ketchup even when we put on lettuces, tomatoes and onions.

anything will do for me; ladies choice sandwich spread, cheese whiz, salad dressing, cream cheese. what's important to me is the bread is not "dry" to help me swallow each mouthful.

I personally don't like mayonnaise unless it's at a specific fast food place where I've tried their burgers before and it was good (:. In general I prefer mustard and ketchup with my burgers, along with cheese and pickles and well you get the idea. xD
I have a brand preference too, I always choose Heinz whenever possible, for both ketchup and mustard. If Heinz mustard is not available I go for the brand called French's which is also one of my other favorite brands when it comes to mustard. :D If only generic is available I do try to make the most of it, but there is a distinct difference from generic and the brands I like (:

a burger without mayonnaise i like only a bread without a toppings and ham, it is uselless to eat.

I actually eat mayonnaise by itself..Its tasty..I really like the sour one.but real mayo is better.I dont eat burgers so I just eat it up by itself..try that..Mayo are very delicious..I also add cheese when I eat it..for better taste,just a little bit cheese must add.

Honestly I've never paid attention to what kind of mayo I put on my burger. Though I do know I like equal amt with ketchup and loaded on my burger. I burger isn't right w/o mayo and veggies on top. Yum!

It seems there are different kinds of mayo out there, the one I prefer is Hellmann's. My mom always bought that brand and so I mostly only know that brand and it tastes yummy to me. I have had to cut back on it some due to health but I have to have it with my chicken and fish salads. I ate some with my breaded chicken sandwich today from Burger King too. I'm not sure what brand they use, but it's probably not Hellmann's cause I can tell the difference.
