Recently, "The Scream" was sold in an auction for USD$119.9 million make it the most expensive painting in the world. I think it is over valued, what do you guys thing? Is it worth buying a painting like that for more than a $100 million?

Hello bbve and welcome to myLot . When I first saw this piece of art work it reminded me of some of my children's and grand children's art work when they were in middle school. Even if I had the funds I would not want this piece of work no matter who did it. The person that bought it are paying more for the name recognition of Edvard Munch than for the actual work. According to Abigail R. Esman, Contributor to the Forbes magazine it isn't worth the $119.9 million even as an investment. Not enough people have the kind of money to make it a worth while resale.

I would only buy this as an investment. I would never want it in my home. As an investment it is hard to think that there would be much profit in it, I do think it was over priced, but I also know in an auction people may get excited and over react to the compatition.

The painting definitely has some value, because it's been an important piece of art for more than a century now. It's inspired a lot of things, including the Ghostface character from the Scream franchise, as well as pop art.

agree with you on the Scream mask.. if the value is on the painting it self .. i don't see it but if you telling about the mysterious and the stories behind the painting that bring the value up then i guess could be it.
