I did not realize until a few hours ago that today was The Kentucky Derby. I am planning to watch it. I am not a horse racing fan but I enjoy The Kentucky Derby. I have no favorites but I will like whatever horse wins and root for that horse the next big race. However, I do not feel the same way about The Triple Crown after Barbaro was put down. From what I have read, some of the horse racing practices in The United States have caused unnecessary death of horses.
Good luck to all the horses running. May the best horse win.

I am going to sound like one of the worst Kentuckians ever, but I have to admit that I missed watching the race live this year. The reason that it happened was because of the fact that we had some extra kids at the house over the weekend and they were playing on the XBox when the race was on.
That said, I do like horse racing and one of the things that I do have on my bucket list is to be at the Kentucky Derby in person one year.

You live in Lexington, right? Isn't The Derby held in Louisville, close by? I would love to make The Kentucky Derby one day. I love the pomp and circumstance, the pageantry.
It was a great race. I love that the winners were all sort of outsiders and newcomers . No one was expecting this horse or group to win.
Does Lexington have a big celebration?

I always see the triple crown races. Last year I picked one of he winners. I can't remember the name. All I do remeber is that the name had a hockey theme so I picked him to win, and he did! I also loved the year the Philly ran in Kentucky. That was exciting. I can't wait. I always pick by the name of the horse. It is fun. I never bet but just find a horse to root for and see what happens!

Ok, we are early on in The Kentucky Derby. Any bets as to who might win?
I wish that I had a Mint Julep or a Margarita since today is also Cinco De Mayo.

My husband is from Kentucky so naturally we are big fans of the Kentucky Derby.
I love horse racing not to bid on just watching before to see them come out and see which one I think will win.
I have a pretty keen eye for horses because I usually do pick the winner.
Since you are discussing the Kentucky Derby, It was started 60 years ago this year.
Since I am turning 60 thats how I knew LOL
Its first run was in 1952.
Just a bit of history trivia.
