All of us I believe don't want to be sick, right? And none of us too doesn't want to spend our days in the hospital, am I correct? And because getting sick or ill is such an uncomfortable feeling, it became highly important to try to maintain our god health. In your case, how do you maintain your own good health? What are some of your habits and discipline that makes you healthy and keeps you away from being sick?

Well so far I think the best preparation I can help and that really helps is having lots of swimming in the sea. Whenever I had lots of swimming in the summer the salt preformed miracles in the winter and I didn't get easily sick, that's why many of the nasal sprays that we use when we are sick are based on sea water :)

Now that is a mind-opener for me. I never realized that sea water could be a great source of good health. Well, come to think of it my mom used to show us a liquid health product that is suppose to be taken from a "red sea" which is said to have various healing capacities. I actually forgot the name of the product, but there have been a respectable number of followers for that product here in my country. Talking about swimming on the sea, in my case I find it difficult because I'm not a good swimmer and it forced me to drink a lot of sea water...well anything that is too much may become unhealthy, and in my case I had an overdose of healthy salt water...yuck!

In that case, I guess that is something I could try :) I actually believe there is some healing properties in sea water...just look at the sea and you can feel something mystique and mysterious about them.

Well I doesn't have to be swimming :) all you need is to "sniff" some water through your nose or take some water in your mouth, especially if you have sinusitis problems as I do, during winter, it really helps, strengthens and heals your nose and throat :)

I think we must follow our "SELF" in order to maintain our good health. S- sleep E- exercise L- leisure F- food Another thing is to keep in mind that anything in excess has its own disadvantage.

That is a very helpful and simple guide that is so easy to remember. Thanks for sharing! Now if we could avoid the other "SELF" that could be dangerous to our health: S- self-indulgence in food E- eating a lot of unhealthy garbage L- lacking exercise F- false pretension that everything is okay when it's not So we see our two selves here, the good self and the bad self. I would rather follow my good self shown by asdomencil :D

Hello cloud31, You've shown a complete strategy that deals with eating habits, exercise, rest as well as having a healthy mind. I also believe that being healthy does not simply mean having a strong body, but the mind and also one's lifestyle is included in the overall concept of good health. If we only follow what you have just laid out here, I can just imagine it would only do go and lead to a really healthy lifestyle and a healthy you...and me included.

Hi, Normally, I don't go through other people's comments (though myLot insists), for other discussions. As I was aware most of them and I just gone through everyone's comments and all are commented propltly saying, good food, exercise, proper sleep, fruits, veggie food, dieting, etc. etc. which means all people are very well awere that how to maintain proper health and how can we can best fit and an ill-free healthy conditions. Except few heriditary illness and exceptional healthy conditions, majority of the people can build their proper health by observing the abovementioned practices. Here my botheration is - by properly knowing each and everything, how many of them are observing atleast 25% of the minimum requirement for the good health. I have my doubts in this regard and one thing I am sure that people here are well awere how to live and but they knowingly IGNOREs the importance. Sad, too sad... It is just like the school teachers - they insist and instruct to the students and never observe what they comments.... Thank-s

Hi thanks1961, there's real truth to what you're saying concerning a lot of people who knows what they should be doing but sad to say was not able to do what they advice to do...and that includes me in terms of staying healthy. I already know good healthy diet of fruits and vegetables are good and avoiding sugary food and junk food would be bad...I see myself now eating vegetables and fruits very seldom and now I am addicted to softdrinks and junk food. Anyway, the reason I made this topic post is to really get a lot of other good ideas besides those I know but most importantly to get the important motivation to get me going again to the right direction. Anyway, thanks a lot thanks1961 for your feedback. Anyway, I think many or probably all of those who wrote their suggestions in this topic have been following their good healthy habits in a great degree or in full, so I think they are not one of those included as people who don't practice what they preach. Peace!

Be happy! if we are happy we wont get stressed and out body wont secrete toxins that will make us sick and miserable. There are so many people out there with uber healthy lifestyle and still ends up having cancer because of too much stress. If we have a positive upbringing out body will be much healthier. Surround your self with positive people and things will go well.

I believe the state of being happy is an ignored factor in one's desire of being healthy, but I also agree with you that it plays a huge part in making one healthier. I agree that there are people who look physically healthy but inside they are racked with invisible illness that generally makes them unhealthy, and probably even hides a serious disease like cancer...and as you said, many of them are caused by too much stress. As we know, a person can live in a lot of stress while maintaining good discipline in exercising so they keep their body fit but the stress they had in their work or lives in general causes them to become sick and sometimes even terminally ill. So having said all these, it's also important to learn how to live a stress-free lifestyle by learning stress-management skills and also generally learning how to have a happy life which constitute to a lot of positive experiences and encourages us to have positive actions towards a healthier lifestyle.

Well there are obviously lots of way to be healthy and in order to wary oneself and to be free from any diseases, for me I am exercising two or thrice a week for about one to two hours making sure that i can burn my stored fats because basically it would be a nice feeling to have a skinny body right you can wear anything you wishes too and you can move freely if you are fit and besides no hassles at all.Another way is I am having a balanced diet, avoiding colas and extra meals, supplement it with vitamins and minerals.Having adequate sleep and rest.In addition taking time to venture into something that requires energy expenditure furthermore adding up to a more healthier lifestyle because it can contribute to burning more calories like hiking or walking on going to ones own work, not using the elevator but instead use the stairs in climbing higher buildings or establishment.Rest assured no matter what are our ways in order to be healthy what is important is our dedication, determination in attaining our goals to become healthy.

You have shared a lot of good ideas here, and one of those that struck me here is your idea of looking for more ways to get those extra exercises in your ordinary activities, like when you said instead of using the elevator you can use the stairs. I believe if these are done in a regular basis I believe it will do a whole lot of good to making oneself even more fit and healthier. I can't help comparing my dad to my uncle, because my dad has not been in the habit of exercising and someone who doesn't like to walk a long distance but my uncle had the habit of walking a few kilometers a day. And to compare my dad and my uncle in terms of strength and stamina, obviously my uncle would be ahead by a mile. So I believe those small steps towards changing our habits that would lead to better health had big significance in turning us into healthy human beings.

I think the most important thing is to deal with stress in your life. Of course diet and exercise are important also. But for me stress is the big thing in my life, I use meditation, yoga and EFT or tapping to relieve this. Many times just a few deep breaths can do the job. Blessings

It's good that you mentioned the word 'stress' savypat, because I have read in a lot of articles and books that stress is really the cause of most diseases. South Korea is a country where a lot of people have cancer and if we study their history and lifestyle, they are now one of the most hardworking students and workers in the whole world...but then also have the most stress in the process. Anyway, I know these things through my Korean friends whom I am now teaching English online. Thanks for sharing about ways to reduce stress like meditation, yoga and EFT. I do a little of meditation, none of yoga and a little of EFT. Anyone who doesn't know EFT, it means Emotional Freedom Technique and it is similar to acupressure where you tap certain points of the body and face and combined them with positive self-suggestion. I think they are not very popular by now, but I find there very effective. God bless as well :D

betterdays: Welcome to mylot. General health conditions depend on genes of individuals. since we cannot change that, if we concentrate on that we eat only healthy food and also participate in exercises then our health will be good. We must avoid allergens to avoid getting affected.

Thanks ravisivan! Yes, I would have to follow your suggestion of starting to eat healthy because I'm into softdrinks now due to the hot weather in our country. Of course, exercise would be one of the good ways to maintain good health but knowing this and actually doing it are two different things. So in my case, I really wanted to exercise more regularly back to my old 3-6 times exercising a week combined with aerobics and weight training. Anyway, you mentioned the word 'allergens' and I'm not sure exactly what it means, does it concern food that we are allergic from? Just a guess...

My healthy habits include the control of food which we have and regular exercise. I think these are the key to the success to have a goo body which is freed from all diseases. I always used to have an particular amount of food on each time. I don't break them at any cost. The second thing is that doing regular exercise. I used to have regular morning walk for almost one hour. Walking is the one of the good exercise and I used to practice them early in the morning. I think you can put them into practice. This will help you a lot.

As they say, "practice makes perfect" and in your example I can add "practice makes perfect health". I knew somebody who used to be a neighbor who had a heart bypass, and whenever I play tennis I always saw him walking around the neighborhood. Days and weeks pass by, and I still see him walking around. After a few months, he came inside the tennis court and played tennis with us. After that, he became a regular player of the club and he admitted he couldn't have done it if he didn't have this regular habit of walking. I think this is a good example of the benefits of walking from a real personal experience.

I prefer eating vegetables than meats and I try to have a happy heart each day. Laughing is a free thing anyone can afford but I guess because of the problems some people have forgotten the benefits of having a happy heart on our health. It works for me and I'm glad I rarely get sick.

I believe there is really truth to what your saying here...about laughing as a source of health and healing. In my country, I have heard there is already a 'laughter yoga' and I have seen the one who started this laughter yoga session on a tv guesting, and the way she continuously laugh is really hilarious. Anyway, I'm an avid believer of laughter as a real good source of medicine :D

I should say proper and regular exercise, and of course proper diet. I think there's no such important things to do to stay healthy other than what I have said. Anyway, just my opinion.

i agree, juhrina, those two should be the the main source of having a healthy lifestyle. The other factors would only be supportive to them, like having enough sleep, taking care that your surroundings are clean including your own body, receiving enough healthy sunlight, and so on.
