Today, my niece and I went to a bookstore to buy school supplies for this coming school year. Like before I let her choose all the things she needed. After a few minutes I noticed that she's putting recycled papers and notebooks in our shopping cart. Then i asked her "why your choosing recycled paper and notebooks? Why dont you choose a virgin paper? Then she replied " Aunt, don't you know recycled paper and notebooks almost same as a virgin paper, and this recycled paper are less expensive. Also by buying this, I can save trees and protect the forest." I was so amazed, to think she just a little girl but yet already aware about taking care of trees. After shopping we end up buying seedlings and signing in a tree planting program. How about you? What will you do to save trees? Would you use or buy recycled paper to make a difference? Please share with us.. :)

Why not? It is a cheaper alternative compare to non recycled notebook and virgin papers; at the same time i get a chance to save our forest and reduce number of timber tree from cutting down by loggers annually. At least with more tree around, our air will be cleaner and our environment can be greener. One stone kill two birds, i will choose to use recycled paper.

I use recycled paper when I can find it and it isn't too expensive. I think there are too many politics (or too much greed) involved in it here!
Also, they teach kids things like that here in grade school so that they are well indoctrinated into saving the earth.

Good day Bhebelen14,
Practically speaking, I will still use recycled paper and notebooks even I will not make a difference. As now a days, we need to save and should be wise in spending. So in this regard, we should really know how to reuse the things that we can still use. And for the trees, it can be save if nobody will engage on illegal logging. Most often times, illegal loggers are the primary contributors why trees are being rare now a days.

I honestly couldn't really know. There might have been some times where I have purchased recycled paper in the past but really it is really not something that I would pay much attention to. It would not be something that I would rather go out of my way to really do. Paper to me is paper, just plant some more trees, and it will be fine.
Granted, if the paper is still able to be used just the same, then there is no harm. I guess a lot of people are like me and really do not pay all that much attention to what is being done right there. I think that in the end, not enough people will do it, because the fact that what they can do is going to fly right under the radar and not the right people have gotten behind it, without coming across as heavy handed.

Wow! Congratulations to you for having a niece like her and good job to your niece. It is always a good idea to use earth-friendly things, for all we know, our fragile world is gradually degrading - we can see now the signs - calamities everywhere. I would also buy and patronize recycled paper.
The government should be more strict in it's implementation regarding the use of recycled materails particularly paper.Schools should teach more about recycling to kids. Each and every one of us should contribute.
And joining an activity for a common cause is one of the things I still need to do thus far like those tree planting projects. I need to act now before it's to late.

I agree. By using earth-friendly things we can save trees, to prevent some calamities like landslide and floods. I was hoping too, that the government be more strict not only by using recycled materials but also in stopping illegal logging. We need to save trees for future us and for generation.

She is a good girl with a sense of protecting the trees. We need to have more people aware of the protection of our forests to prevent the loss of both the forests of the loss of soil. I also recycle a lot when something is still usable. We have a small room for storing recycled things and then when we have enough, we ask someone to come and get it for some small money. Take care.

You're right throwing used paper and burning it was a big waste, instead used it or sell in to the junk shop so that will be recycled. Thank you for sharing.

I do use recycled paper a lot, sometimes I like it more that the regular one. We have the tendency to destroy the environment around us, but we don't stop for a moment to think that we need this to survive. Trees are so important for our survival because they give a breath of fresh air to this polluted planet. If all of us could do what you and your niece did, we could save some trees! It is impressive to watch young childen act with such responsibility, your niece is aware of problems that should concern adults more, shelooks like a smart girl.

I mostly used to sell my old note books and papers to save trees. I think this can help the earth to save a lot of trees. Secondly I would plants more and more trees. So that we do not face a lot of shortage of trees in our earth.

I always love to hear kids excited and knowledgeable about ways to help our planet. I usually will go out of my way to by things that have packaging that can be recycled, or that are made of recycled materials. I believe if everyone one Earth only did one small thing a day for our planet, we would be able to make a real difference, that would be seen for generations to come.
