$5 added to your Chitika Account

well, that was the subject line of a message I received from Chitika today. I really doubt if it is really from chitika. The email add is specialproject@chitika.com.
They said that they have added $5 in my account since they noticed that I was not running their ads. The letter ended with a name of Sarah R of Customer support with typed email add of support@chitika.com. But when I pointed my mouse to the said email add, the address is specialproject@chitika.com.
I am currently running their ads in my blogs so what they were saying in the message is completely untrue. So again I became so doubtful.
I checked my account by opening a new window and not the link they provided to me as I was very doubtful to click it. I found out that there was no $5 added to my account. And for no reason I was accidentally logged out. When I tried to log in again, I could no longer access my account. I already emailed chitika about this and still waiting for their reply.
What do you think mylot members? Do you have similar experience like this from chitika. Thanks!

Yes, this could be phishing. Are you still able to get into your account by going through the process of "Forgot my password"? You might still be able to salvage it the moment you change your password and I do hope this is true. Unfortunately, @chitika.com is legit. And it's just worrisome that they can be hacked so easily.

The thing that really made me worried is the closing email add they gave in the message like this: support@chitika.com it is in blue font. so if you are not careful you will assume that it's a link to the official site but when I tried to point the mouse to it, the email inside it is specialproject@chitika.com. good thing I was able to log in again yesterday.

I am also not able to access my account....I think they have changes the version that is making the problem bt the support team said keep logging in you will get it....And about ur e mail,I have not got any e-mail from chitika about the amount....Thanks...

so from the response of mylot members I think it is very strange that chitika only selected few accounts. but I was able to access my account again yesterday after several tries.
