You know I was just bored stiff watching tv here and the guy on the show said an interesting factoid. That in ancient times that when a cat died people would go shave their eye brows to mourn the passing of the cat. I've looked it up and it must be true. I've never heard of that have you?

That's interesting I've never heard of that tradition, but all cultures, ancient and modern have traditions that they hold that can seem bizarre if you aren't from that culture. For example the ancient Mayans used to sacrifice animals in order to please their gods. Whereas in American society if people openly sacrificed animals they would ostracized by the community and be convicted of animal cruelty.

I knew that Egyptians had a really special connection with their cats, but I didn't know that they had a mourning ritual like this that they went through when their cats passed away. I know that if it was something that was done in the United States today, I might just now be getting my eyebrows back after having had them shaved for the better part of the last two years. In October of 2010 we lost our first cat and then in June of last year we lost our second cat.

Cats were thought of as gods in Egypt this does not surprise me at all it is one of few cultures in history where cats were respected and worshiped rather then feared and killed
