Appearances are often deceptive, nowdays people usually wear a mask and carry dual-personalities,manipulations are turning into a mainstream culture. It has often happened to me that my opinions about a person usually changes after spending some time with him/her.

It always goes back to don't judge a book by its cover. I'm guilty as the next person on judging someone I don't know by how they look. I think it's ingrained into us as children by society. It's a habit I've worked hard to break.

I try not to judge on appearance, but I know that subconsciously I probably do. I know that because I am obese that people will ALWAYS judge me poorly on first impressions because fat people are assumed to be lazy, unclean, etc. Its not fair, but will always be part of life.

very often physical appearances are misjudged based on misconceptions. As somebody may be more fascinated by somebody's looks but later get to learn beauty is skin-deep.

sometimes i think you are right, then sometimes i think that people think they can mask themselves with first impressions. i am one of those people who use my ability (which we all have) to see right through it. it's my defense mechanism. i usually go by what i see when i first meet the person, what i see that they want me to see. then only time can tell from there.

I think that it is easy to make a misjudgement the first time that you meet someone. But I honestly believe that the first impression is very important because it determines if you are willing to get to know the personality of the person. In order to find the real character of someone you might need years, some people are very hard to read and there are many examples of friends that realised after many many years that their "friends" were not who they thought. When I first meet someone, I base my judgement on my gut feeling which is usually correct.

Of course it's hard to judge a person at first impression.Usually the first time you get to know a person you make an impression and after you spend some more time with her you change it. And you're right people always wear a social mask and they're themselves for real only when they get relaxed.
