It occurred to me that's some of the most common complaints completely don't add up when you put them together. 1 the rich and big businesses are taxed too much 2 corrupt big business is hurting the country 3 politicians are corrupt and can't handle money 4 campaign contributions to politicians corrupts them How to make sense of all this: The rich over taxed people are giving their extra money to the rich politicians, who are taking to much of it through taxes, and spending it all on welfare for the workers who they can't afford to pay. But they get government breaks because they are making large donations to people who over tax them.... I got it, you should pay you're taxes directly to you're politician.

I have heard that there is no investment by the rich into the economy because they are fearful of what this administration has up its sleeve for the future. And the argument is that they do not pay their 'fair share' which can be shown to be untrue. The bottom quintile of Americans are not paying anything. Is this 'fair'? As for donations, it also can be shown that the charity of corporations have done much good for the developement of necessary services and products for the poor and the middle class as well as the needs of non Americans abroad. It is not a black/white, good/evil situation as our president is proclaiming. Americans used to be able to discern, now we are being led down the path of envy and greed into class warfare. I for one do not buy it. There is need for laws and regulations within the economic sphere, humans by nature are greedy, but to criminalize the desire to succeed and make a profit is counter productive.

You are right. Even if some of the so called rich pay a lower percentage, they still pay a higher actual money amount. The richest 1% or so of people pay something like 99% percentage of the taxes. Increases their taxes even more might just have the effect of driving them out of the country and they wouldn't pay any taxes like the minor founder of Facebook is doing.

Isn't that sort of how our financial systems works with a few extra mirrors? But you neglected the second part of the topic. Why are these companies and individuals spending millions to back the politicians that are coming in and raising taxes on them when they could be backing ones that will lower their taxes?

Many companies will donate to both parties just to have a say in policies. They are paying so that they can be at the table when things are discussed or at least have a chance to be heard. They pay so that when they have a problem there is someone they can call on to help fix tings. Just like Walmart paid government officals in Mexico to speed up the permit process - sorry that was bad because Walmart wasn't paying American Officials.

I agree, and Walmart, they're just all sorts of immoral. Now tie in the part where they are paying way too much in taxes that are going to poor people who don't work. Maybe Walmart is a good start, I bet nearly 90% of their employees get entitlements.

I don't think they're really as over taxed as people like to say, I notice it's the right wing middle class who complains the most about how much they think the rich pay in taxes. Case in point, my friend told me he's going to make the most he ever did in his life this year and pay the least taxes in a long time, and he used to always complain about taxes.
