I was having a conversation with a family friend and my parents awhile back. Somehow the subject of my mom's aggressive cystic acne (which she struggled with well into her 30s) came up in the conversation. "He didn't marry me for my looks, isn't that great?" Mom said to me. "There are a few reasons why I wouldn't want to have cystic acne that have nothing to do with looks!" I replied. I'm thinking of one right now as a spot is festering on my chin. It's hard to ignore because it's itching and burning. I remember last year I had a cyst next to my nose that hurt so bad, it felt like someone was repeatedly stabbing me in the face. I hate zits. I wish I could banish them from all the faces on the face of the earth. At this point, I'm 21 and I've fought with moderate to severe acne since I was 14. I've escaped bad facial scaring so far, but the acne has shown no signs of letting up. If my genetics are any indication, it's only bound to get worse as I grow older. I have been to doctors and dermatologists, and I have tried every lotion and potion, oral antibiotics, diets, and most acne remedies suggested to man with little to no results. I used to joke that the only thing I hadn't tried was the nasty mother of all anti-acne drugs, Isotertinion aka Accutane. But that's about to change! Finally found a dermatologist who told me there's no use dragging our feet and pretending we can treat all moderate acne cases topically. I'm excited. Anybody else out there ever just frustrated with the non-cosmetic reasons to hate acne? Obviously, we're all also upset about the cosmetic reasons... but anybody just hate how much zits itch and burn? Anybody else out there ever tried Isotertinion?
