Crooked painting

I for one like everything in its proper place and that includes pictures and paintings hung on the wall perfectly straight to the zero'th degree. I visited a house the other day and felt very uncomfortable seeing a painting pretty cockeyed. I straightened it but I was so embarrassed when the lady of the house politely put it back and said that is modern art!! What is modern art for you?

I have seen pictures that have been hung like a diamond rather than square across the top. I do not mind these, because that is the way they were painted and meant to be hung - they seem to look "right" that way. It does bother me, however, when a painting that is supposed to be hung "square" is tilted to the side. Of course, this does happen from time to time, especially with people running and playing in the house.

I do think that a well arranged interior helps with mental peace. On the other hand, perhaps what is "mental peace" to one person is "chaotic" or "confusing" to another. The best way to explain this is giving an example of the "art" that I have seen here, but I am not sure whether or not you have them on your side of the pond. When some people look at it they just see abstract images. However, when other people look at it they see words. It is due to how you look at the image - some people look at the presence of color and some at the absence of color, so they interpret it differently.

Those that claim that they like abstracts most of them say it because society considers those who like abstracts as being suave. There is so much of make believe in this world. Have you heard of body language that reveals people personalities? Some read books and practice to give a false picture:
Here is an article on body language just in case you feel like ....!

That's what I thought and was doing them a favour by setting it right!
But honestly for mental peace don't you think a well arranged interior would play a better role?

I don't know allknowing. If someone says something is modern art I take it ; that is all.I am not going to follow it after all.
I am a person in whose mind nothing would register in another person's place.I will normally be so carried away chatting with the person that I won't observe anything else even if it boldly stares at my face.If , by chance I happen to observe things like this [Of course I would go only to houses of close people with whom I can chat so well.]Even if it strikes my eye , I would normally not mention it .I am going to be there for a short while ; it won't affect me.[ I will not allow it rather].

I have a fascination for interiors and do notice how others have done up their homes. The emphasis here is not so much about my observation but what people consider as modern art. What is your concept of modern art kala. Do you have anything off the beaten track that one could call modern art as this lady proudly shows off the painting hung so badly in my opinion, and calling it modern art?

Frankly , I don't know what modern art is except that it cannto be deciphered by an untrained eye.Have seen some pictures and paintings[in films also where I could make neither head nor tail of it.So , according to me "What I cannot understand " is "probably modern art ????"
Do you know something?--Normally a squint eye,a large ear, a snub nose are considered to be marks of "good luck"[ we used to make fun of this statement saying that if something is out of the way or something not everyone would like to have this "good luck" tag is attached by elders as a compensatory factor.THis was their way of probably uplifting the affected person's morale.
Perhaps a similar interpretation can be given to the above.Let her
have her delusions after all and you will have to distance yourself from your aesthetic sense for a while.

Ugh, like you, that would drive me crazy, and my focus would be on that painting, my hands itching to correct it..
When it comes to kinds of art like paintings and sculptures, I really am not one to critique, I like works of art like nature or the supernatural, flowing and not crooked..lol

Or wanting to push that hair out of that teenagers eye???
I know, the hair is one thing, it doesn't bother me, but a painting, wow, it would grind on me..

There are so many things in this world that put me off but I have to go with the flow having no other alternative. If only I had a choice I would for example do away with get togethers that are organised to celebrate events and invite people whom they have not seen for years and years but in order to have a crowd they are included. This no doubt has nothing to do with the topic but does have relevance in that to be 'in' what people do.

Can you imagine me sitting there and looking at that painting on the wall that needs to be straightened and what else could I do but get up and do it myself just to be put back in its original positon calling it modern art
It is like these youngsters doing anything that is 'in' no matter how uncomfortable their choices could be!

Any art with unwanted lines and makes no sense can be regarded as modern art..like moral-less modern people...

So if I take a really old painting and add a few "unwanted lines" on it ... say crayon marks, for example
... then would it be considered "modern art" rather than a "ruined painting"?
Also, do all moral-less modern people like modern art?
