I was thinking - Yes, it happens at times..
What did people do before they had toothbrushes?
There must be some natural way to clean our teeth. I know that saliva protects our teeth if we don't eat too often, but there is actually a tree that has been used for thousands of years, the Neem Tree, also called the Toothbrush Tree.
But when I looked for information about this tree, I found that it is good for almost anything.
I think our friends from India and Pakistan and some other places are familiar with this tree, but it is not so well known in the western parts of the world.
It has been used - except for toothbrushes - for skincare, snake bites, antibacterial, antiviral and as a natural pesticide and a lot more.

Have you heard of, or do you have any experience of using this tree or parts of it?

I have bought several different kinds of soap that contain Neem oil, as well as tooth powder from the "toothbrush Tree" but also I have a 1/2 gallon of the oil which I actually purchased at a plant store to use in growing hydroponic plants indoors. I also use the oil on my skin from time to time. It is wonderful stuff.

Sounds good
- have to ask for Neem products in our health store.
I would love to see your indoor garden.
Not long ago I detected the coconut oil which also is good for both the skin and hair.
There are so many great natural products, so why buy synthetic ones? Thanks for your comment..

Hi, Ann
You have a really interesting blog - for us who live in places with long winters, it would be a good way to get fresh veggies during winter.

Buenavida,
I do have some pictures of my indoor garden on one of my blogs:

I haven't kept this up much lately because I've been moving around a lot for the past two or three years. I really want to get it set up again, as I miss my indoor plants a lot.

I had a look at the ingredients in the tooth paste I am using and buy from a health store, and yes, there is both seasalt and Sodium Bicarbonate together with many healthy herbs!!
It looks like both salt and baking soda are still useful, but maybe a brush is more efficient than a cloth, but people must have felt that this old method was good, so they kept using it long time ago.
But I will ask for products from the Neem tree in the health store!

I have used Neem before as an insect repellent in spray form for both humans and our pets. We also grew a neem tree as a seedling, but our cats destroyed it. They must have known the benefits of it, so they ate it to prevent ticks!
The leaves are very bitter which is what turns the insects off them. I used to eat the leaves myself too as an insect repellent as I was getting eaten by mosquitoes attracted to my sweet blood. The neem made my blood more bitter and less attractive to them.

Wooww!! That is interesting.. Cats liked that tree so much that they ate it..
Animals feel by instinct what is good for them!
Good to know there is a natural insect repellant..
