Facebook friends with benefits

Should you date someone or meet them outside of the Facebook environment even if they say they just want to be friends? This is a lot about what Facebook is about, anyway. Isn't it? Is it safe? Can one make it safe? Is it harmless? Let me have your opinion. Thanks.

Nothing is totally safe. however, facebook is certainly a very great site with plenty of indescribable benefits.

It can be harmless and safe. The one way to make it safe, if you want to meet them, is to meet at a public place, for lunch, coffee, etc. Let someone know that you are going to meet this person and where, and if you feel uncomfortable at any point, you could txt or call this person and have them join you. I have met several people that I met in chat, the difference there is, we were in a chat room for firefighters and police and we had something in common. I always met them in a public place, I never had a meeting that turned out bad, and we now stay in touch through facebook, email, or messenger.
