Maxie is acting like she had to confess to protect Matt

But as the story was told as far as I remember, the case of Lisa Niles' murder had been pretty much settled until Maxie decided to confess to it because she felt guilty about Robin and wasn't going to be punished for that. If she hadn't confessed to it than Matt would not be in trouble over it, Spenneli wouldn't have had to break his promise because he wouldn't have had to make one, etc. Maxie is the one who opened a whole can of worms about the whole thing.

I thought that to. Why'd she even bring it up! That forged letter had the captain or whoever it was, confessing. Why'd she confess to it? How stupid! But then I figured, surely the writers had a reason..and I guess sine they are getting rid of the Matt character..they had to have a way! I guess she did bring it up in hopes that it would help send her to prison as she thought she deserved over Robin, but still....it was just to stupid. Matt will either go to jail or rehab cause he was so drunk he did it and didn't know it and probalby once he remembers, it will be considered an "accident" as he was drunk, and just stumbled into her. I dont' think they'll make Patrick go through another binge thing over his brother being a murderer because of his issue with Lisa.

That is true, although, and I don't know if you were watching, Anthony knew Matt killed Lisa, and had Maxie doing stuff for him because he threatened to tell the police. That was when Maxie set up Tracy and Anthony's wedding because Anthony blackmailed her. At least now Anthony can't use anything against her because the truth is out. Since Matt Cook is leaving, I guess he'll go to jail?
