Do you like overclocking??? Someone may think that overclocking is harmful to CPU or some other drives. Actually, if a CPU or hard disks can live for 10 years I still don't need it. I prefer overclocking it and make the most of them in 5 years. After the five years, I can buy another computer instead. Do you think overclocking is good?? How long would you want your PC to live??

Just those with some low-end CPU's should overclock (like me). You should only overclock when you need a videogame that is out of your CPU's capability. I have a Pentium 4 3.0ghz and I can overclock it to about 3.5ghz and I only used it once when I want to play Battlefield Bad Company 2.

Yeah, I think nobody would overclock his PC while editing a notepad. Use old CPU and overclock it can also produce a good efficiency.

Oh no, I have never been comfortable with the idea of overclocking a processor. I realise that the architecture of the average processor with withstand a reasonable amount of overclocking, but it will also generate a greater heat build up from the processor. Many of my friends always overclock and usually purchase AMD doe to it being easier to overclock, but if I required extra processing power then I would buy a faster processor in the first place. I have even noticed that there is a tendency nowadays for some manufacturers to supply systems with the Intel I7 already overclocked. Unless you are into gaming then you would be hard pressed to make use of that much power.

i have an old reliable XPC pentium 4 2.8 ghz now for almost 10 years. It is still the same as i had first had it, but admittedly with some upgrade of the memory only. Overclocking it rarely for some heavy multi-tasking related to my work. In a technical forum discussion, overclocking would eventually drain the processor, the tear and wear aspect and at some point might burned down. Overclocking i think is good for fast pace video games to avoid lags, and surely would be of an advantage for gamers and alike.
