I loved the 90's version, and yeah it was a bit cheesy but still great, and I know the classic 60's 70's version was a bit comical but these series were not really meant to be humorous, all though I do get that these series had a lot of moments and lines in them that are funny, but I was hoping that once the Dark Shadows was redone it would be more like the previous versions and not a comedy That said I love Burton and Depp's work, but Dark Shadows as a comedy really? nuh not sure that I will be able to get into this latest version like the other versions I've watched before though I might still watch the film out of curiosity.

I only saw the TV soap opera of the 60s. Then it all rested on Barnabas Collins who was a tragic character with small amounts of comedy that had to do with his belonging to another era.

Yay I agree that Burton & Depp could've done a drama 'worthy' of the Dark Shadows-moniker; but the odd-vampire-bit has been way overdone, so much so that it was about-time for a comedy (a la Vampires Suck, but with Burton-quality production)

I was on Gather and I read reviews by two different people who watched the 1970s version. One of them loved it, and one of them didn't. So I'm not sure. One way to keep occupied is to look for the original actors in cameos throughout the movie.

Such is the mind of Tim Burton! I'm not that too familiar with the Dark Shadow series since I'm just starting to watch it over Youtube. To tell the truth, I'm a bit skeptical that Dark Shadows the Movie would be able to satisfy the fans of the show. However, fans of Burton-Depp tandem would definitely watch it. Maybe the fans would watch it too just to see the difference.

I have only seen the trailer but I know that 'Dark Shadows' is a dark comedy like Depp's movie 'Sweeney Todd'. I love Johnny Depp movies but I like him even more for this type of genre. Can't wait to see the film.

i already watched the movie and i find quite nice. its really a Gothic Comedy really. so its quite funny with its somewhat inappropriate music in the scenes. If you truly love Tim Burton's work then you should definitely see this one

There are some funny moments in the movie, mostly because Barnabas is a man out of time - but it really isn't a comedy - tho it is being advertized as such - by MORONS!
