My kid is addicted to all cartoon network shows...

My 7 yrs. old kid never stop watching Cartoon Network shows. I'm not bothered at first but when I started to take some time watching with him, I noticed that some of the shows are not really appropriate for his age. I'm not sure what to do to make him understand why i don't want him to watch those shows yet. I don't seem to notice any parental notice before a show would be aired as well.. Is it really ok? or I'm just getting too over protective regarding what my son is watching?

I don't have a kid, but I do have a nephew who also loves watching cartoons, he is always in front of the television and if we bother to get the remote, he always cries. He's a spoiled kid actually, since he's the only kid in our house. Since we can't do anything about him watching his fave cartoon shows, he even watch the gag show on Disney channel, what we do is try to be with him and let him understand those bad or inappropriate scenes are not good and that he should follow it. Sometimes his nanny would ask him to go out and play which actually helps most of the time. There are actually no kids in our subdivision that is within his age group so he really don't like to play outside the house that much. Good thing his nanny likes playing with him and they do enjoy their time together. He's mom is also a working mom like you.

We don't have a nanny, I only have my Mom to look after him.. I'm thinking maybe it's because it is still vacation time here and there's a lot of spare time for him. Maybe when he starts to go to school again he will get preoccupied with studies and lessen his time watching television.

My mom also becomes his nanny sometimes when his nanny is not around, but they don't get along well. My nephew's a little choosy you know... Yes, maybe school time will really keep him busy and forget about cartoon shows. And right after school once you are around, you can go study and read him stories. That should keep him away from the tv

Hello aquinoma05, I have watch cartoons when i was a kid, it's not a big deal. the reason is that it can help him with his imagination and probably helpful in his future about his art work. well, it's your right to monitor him and stop him from watching cartoons that are too violent. e.g. anime. it's always and should be parental guidance for children watching
