Well, Adam Gilchrist was such a great batsman and I hate to see him go... but, he his aging and like every other athlete, had had to take his decision. Some of his innings in the 2008 IPL and 2009 IPL are great to watch. He's clearly one of the great batsman and a great captain of IPL overall. I thought he was good to go for 1 more IPL next year. Did not expect this announcement from him this year. But I hope that Gilchrist join as a Mentor/coach and continue his service for Cricket in IPL.

Well a good decision... He understold that.. He is not fit for ipl... He has not played good inings long ago... Expect the 2nd last innigs.. He performed very badly in last 3 ipls... so its a good decisiin... Now he wants to be mentor or coach for punnab in next edition... I hope management of kings 11 punjab will take him as coach... People like sourav ganguly should follow him...

This has been usually observed that the retired players do not perform well in IPL or in any short format of the games. Adam Gilchrist, Saurav Gangully are such examples. Not only Adam this would be the last ipl for Saurav Ganguly too.

I think this will a sad news for every cricket watchers. He is the one who has the ability to do the maxima's and I am sad to know that he will not be there in the next season. I hope he will turn as a good coach for the cricket teams.

I think that is a good decision by adam. he was struggling through out this IPL with his form and fitness. I hope he will continue as the coach of the team.
