A treat for me, small celebration

So after making it through two surgeries, in two days, and finally getting my appetite back after nearly a week of not being allowed to eat much until yesterday, and not having an appetite to do much of it then. Today I'm ravenous, and was looking for a way to treat myself after such an ordeal that's left me emotionally drained, but ready to celebrate small things. So I browsed through the dominos pizza site, and found a coupon for a sub/chip/soda combo that I've ordered. It's not much, but it's enough of a treat and an indulgent for me. lol. How do you treat yourselves myloters, after going through a difficult ordeal?

Well first of all, I'd like to congratulate you on getting through your surgeries. They are never easy and always nerve-racking. My grandmother just went in on Friday to get a tumor removed. Surgery went well but, she took a turn after that and was rushed back into a second surgery that day. Her heart rate started decreasing rapidly and she was bleeding internally. BUT the doctors did an incredible job and my grandmother stayed strong, brave and good spirited.. She had a third surgery Sunday(yesterday) to remove the gause and bandages and it went really well!!! So happy and thankful, was really worried earlier on in the week! So to anyone at all who goes through any kind of surgery are all so brave, and I'm glad to hear yours went good as well :) Sorry for explaining all that, I think I just needed to vent/express myself so thank you for giving me the chance to do so lol. I hope everything's going well for you after that and I hope you find something to treat yourself with :) I know your question was how do other people treat themselves, but I'm really not sure what I would do. Maybe have a girls day/ go out or eat something yummy! Treat yourself good! You deserve it!!

Well thank you, and yes I'm beyond happy she's doing good as well! But I still do apologise for making that so long! I think what you said about taking it as a sign of success is actually really true. I never really thought of it that way :) Thank you. I hope you're recovering well and treating yourself good!

I ALWAYS treat myself after a difficult ordeal or an emotionally draining experience. I still owe myself a treat after the last trip to Stanford University Hospital last week. I finally found out what was causing my chest pain after living with it for nearly 15 years. I haven't figured out what kind of treat I am going to get for myself... I may go by the local department store and see if there is something that I might like. Unfortunately where I live ordering a Domino's pizza is impossible. I live thirty miles from the nearest Domino's and they won't deliver to my home. So I have to be in town to treat myself. Since it was an important discovery I feel that the event needs a really really special treat. Something like jewelry or a new outfit. I'm still thinking on it.

I agree with you that after something like that, a treat a little bigger than ordering in is called! I'm glad they figured out what was wrong with you. It was only two weeks they kept telling me the wrong thing was wrong with me - but because I felt they were wrong (and I was right lol) it was so frustrating.

It is good to treat oneself once in a while especially in your case thatr you had undergone two surgeries! May I know what procedure you undergo? I treat myself once in a while after a week of daily routines, work, pressures and problems. It doesn't cost much. Sometimes, I just go out alone to freshen up even if its just in a park. I do have a bi monthly salon time --manicure/pedicure and sometimes hot oil treatment for my hair. Sometimes too, if my budget permits, I do have a massage..

My surgeries wouldn't be too serious to many people, but I had been sick for a little over two weeks, in constant pain, with a doctor that kept telling me it was gastritis, and it was my fault I was in pain for what I was eating, even though I was doing everything she was telling me. Finally we found out I had a gallstone stuck in bile duct, and no matter what I ate I would still hurt, and not be able to hold anything down, so it wasn't my fault. My first surgery, which some people wouldn't call a surgery- they put a scope thing down my throat, to get to the bile duct, then made a small cut in it so that they could get the stone out, and then the next day they removed my gallbladder.

Hello syramoon, it is good to know that you are recovering now from your surgeries, I hope all is well with you today. I usually treat myself if I think I have done a job which seems really hard to me to accomplished. After such hard work, I would treat myself to Friday's Restaurant and have a whole order of Baby Back Ribs and some onion rings all by myself. I love ribs but it is a bit expensive so I reserve having that during celebratory moment with my self.

Lat December, 3 days before the new year of 2012, I had also my operation for the removal of my inflamed gallbladder and some gallstones. I had been in moderate to severe pain, intermittently feeling bloated, nauseous for a year and it is only last December I had the chance to have it operated once and for all. And so, after my operation, I haven't tolerated anything solid for almost 2 days. Just plain soup, jell-o and sips of water. New year's eve came and a few hours before the new year, I finally got to eat something solid. Small slice of meat, 1/2 cups of rice, and small serving of vegetables. Wow what a feeling, the relief was amplified by the New Years celebration. My wife and my in-laws were there in the hospital to celebrate with me.

That was so sweet of them. Both of my surgeries had to do with my gallbladder, so I feel your pain there. I had a very sweet best friend who stayed with me both nights in the hospital. :)

I'm always alone in the house. Eating alone is like I'm still sick. So, I just go to my friends sharing laughter and eat lots with them.

I love hanging out with my friends. I was actually at a friend's house, we just didn't have transportation to go out to eat. :)

We usually go out but before anything else we go to Church to say a little prayer and thanksgiving. I know we can't passed any trials without God by our side. Then after that, we go to malls and do some shopping, if we have the budget. But nevertheless, being with my family and spending quality time with them is more than enough as a treat for myself. I am glad you have passed two surgeries and I wish for you speedy recovery.

I would probably spend time with my family and friends. I'm sorry to hear that you have gone through that! I love food and can't even understand loosing my appetite. Food always cheers me up when I'm down! You know what? I think spending time with my family and eating food would be what I would choose!

I am spending time with a friend today, and plan to call my dad later this evening when he gets home, he lives 700 miles away so I hardly ever get to talk to him, and I'm a daddy's girl so that does wear on me. I couldn't keep anything down for two days, then for two days at the hospital they wouldn't let me eat, then it was one meal of jello, then no eating for 12 hours, then my last surgery, then eating a little bit of food they offered there, and then home. I ate a yogurt last night because I knew my body needed it even though I wasn't hungry. I am a food lover too, so it killed me not being able to enjoy anything for that long.
