So I have this thing about feet, even mine. I hate them they are gross. And I live in the country so I go everywhere without shoes, always barefoot. So I have really rough feet, and I don't really paint my toenails that often cause I have never seen the point in it, but I recently wanted to change that habit. I want to take care of my feet, I have never had a pedicure because I don't like the idea of other people messing with my feet, plus I don't really have the money. So I have decided to do my own toes. I will paint them on my own, and I got some recipes for homemade foot soaks, and foot scrubs. Do yall have any recipes, and what are yall's foot routines.

As a guy I am not going to paint my toenails anyway. I am responding because I think is a bad idea to go barefoot. You are exposing your feet to all kinds of things that could cause problems such as infections and wounds, etc. In addition it means your feet are not getting the proper support they should have. They don't get proper arch support which can be hard even wearing shoes because one needs the proper shoes. Poor arch support leads to flat feet which is not good. In addition feet problems can lead to leg problems and back problems. I don't even go barefoot around the house much less outside.

I have always been a barefoot baby. I'm a country girl, I grew up not wearing shoes, my kids don't wear shoes. It's just kind of natural. but I know what you mean about exposing your feet to things. I have stepped on things that have hurt quite a bit. I didn't know about the flat foot thing. But I do wear shoes when I go out or go somewhere, well I wear flip flops when I am just going to the store but if I am going out out I wear boots, so I do sometimes wear shoes..lol

The best thing I have found to soak my feet is vinegar. When I had to have toe surgery a couple of years ago, the podiatrist said to soak my feet for ten minutes every night in a third cup of vinegar to two quarts of water. Amazingly, the skin on my feet became much softer and smoother. I go barefoot in the summer a lot and in the winter I wear my hand knitted houseshoes, so it's the same as going barefoot, only warmer. Going barefoot is good for you in many ways!

Our feet are probably the most neglected part of our body and considering that we spend so much time standing, walking or running around, then it's just right to spend more time taking care of one's feet. The first thing you need to do after you get home from a tiring day of walking is to prop your feet up on a few pillows or a chair. When your feet are no longer too tired, prepare a foot soak of warm water and some essential oils. I normally prefer lavender since the smell is very relaxing. But sometimes I also use tea tree oil since it is also a disinfectant. Choose whatever oil you like. Wash your feet first in some soap and water then put your feet in the nice warm foot soak. Remember that it should only be warm and not hot water since hot water will scald or burn your feet. When you feet are nice and soft from the soaking, you can proceed to scrubbing them. The easiest home scrub I know is olive oil plus sugar. I also liked adding a bit of rock salt since its rough texture will help exfoliate my feet. After the scrub, wash it off with some warm water then you should dry your feet. After drying, put some lotion or moisturizers on them. If you want more intensive moisturizing, before going to bed put some of those heavier night lotions or petroleum jelly if you don't mind the stickiness then on your feet then put on a pair old socks. The socks will prevent the lotion the lotion from drying too quick and will prevent them from getting on your bed sheets. Take of the socks off in the morning and you'll already have nicer, softer feet.
