I am currently trying to memorize numerous Kanji characters for my Japanese language classes which explains why my bedroom walls are nearly covered with papers. I usually write what I need to memorize on paper and stick it to the wall so its always on my sight. I also heard that the color green is good for memory. I bought a green highlighter and used it in my studies, but didn't really notice any difference. What helps you memorize stuff for school?

We are humans and we have some limitations. Studying all your chapters without missing any of the points is one of our limitations. Strong determination and efforts to it make all your dreams into reality Make use of a pencil or a marker to mark the points needed for you. Make sure that you don't underline the whole sentence. Underline those words which can help you to recollect the points. So that you need to byheart only those simple words to recollect the words. Make sure that each of the words make you to think about the point and it's explanation. Make use of simple codes this will help you a lot to study all your chapters at your best. For example if you need to byheart the elements in the periodic table just make use of the starting letter of each elements in correct order. This will help you to learn those things quite eaisly within less time. Remember each of the codes and points when your free and try to recollect them with the explanation. These are the some of the way which i uses to make my study quite simple. Studies becomes quite intresting when you find new codes for most of the things. I spent most of the time for finding them. So my studies just act as a puzzle and i don't feel any burden on my heads

My tip is you should review all what you learn in day time, if you can do it before you go to sleep, it is really good. By doing this way, you can memorize what you learn so long. One more, do study when you are willing to do it, don't need to force yourself in front of a table and study whole day...

Hey, I recommend you try the book Remembering the Kanji by James Heisig. For me, it's the best way to memorize over to 2000 kanji characters in less than 4 months. I swear this book has tremendously helped me in memorizing even the most complicated kanji characters. I started this book on August 18 and now I can read AND write more than 1000 kanji characters in less than a month!

Memorizing is the hardest part every student had to endure while studying. There are some who are really very good at it. While others have a hard time thinking of something to at least help them to be more retentive or for easier comprehension. Many said that it should be done in the early morning after you have just waken up, so that when you go to school it's still fresh in your mind. Of course you must have studied the previous night too and in the morning it's just a sort of review.

Hello :). Back when I was studying I used hand signs while studying something, and when the tests came I recalled which hand signs I used while studying that material. Somehow that helped me remember better, since I used my hands as clues tied to some material or the other, my mind wasn't overwhelmed with everything at the same time. It worked well enough since I got honors in college using it :D.

My classmates do this, too. They trace the Kanji characters on air with their fingers. I've tried it, too, and it does help during exams. Thanks!

hey, why don't you bring along all the papers instead of stick it to the wall? hehehe.. Take an A4 or F4 paper, and write down everything important. The smaller your writings, the more points will be on the paper. I used to do that in high school before the test. Not for cheating of course. It's just easier for me to check if I forgot some points before the test. And instead of bringing some books, I only bring a piece of paper ^^

you are taking Japanese language classes? is that for free by your sister??? that is interesting! Well, memorizing is hard i guess especially if it is japanese try to relax your mind for awhile, that is what i do, and yes like you i also write it in notes, sticky notes for me ( i like the colors) as for the color green, i have no idea about that, but i know chocolates helps with your memory and reading / memorizing too in the wee hours of the morning as it is fresh and quiet.

I read an article a while ago that said we are more likely to remember information if it's written in more interesting fonts. I guess we get so used to looking at the boring, everyday ones that anything different really stands out in our memories. When I need to memorize something, I like to write it out a few times and then review my handwritten notes. It makes it a lot easier for me to recall things. Maybe that has something to do with the interesting font thing... but when I've written something a few times by hand I can usually remember writing it down.

one way that my teacher taught me to makes us memorize something or vocabulary easier is to made some white cards, just like the name card but white and plain one, make for about 20 cards and start writing those kanji characters you need to memorize it on the cards, one character for one card, write it down with quite a big size, complete with meaning, 20 cards from a week, keep it in your pocket, and take it out whenever you have time and read it, example like when you're waiting for a bus, or que-ing for a lunch in Mc Donalds, or waiting for pay your bills in the supermarket, take it out and start to read and memorize it.. as long as my experience, it works for me, due to how many characters you can memories, is depends on every people, so i hope it works and have a try! :D
