what version of bloody mary legend do you know?

There are lots of stories abut her origin. The first one i heard of was that she was this pretty girl who jumped off a high building and ruined her face. And another story goes like she was vain and pretty, but she got into an accident which made her horrendous to look at.. she was said not to look upon her face in the mirror, but out of curiosity she did.. she was shocked that she broke the mirror, or scratched it looking for her pretty face..

You writing this discussion sort of reminded me that there was a story behind the legend. I remember from a young age being dared to look into the mirror in the dark and say bloody mary three times. Supposedly her ghost would show up behind you and to get it to go away you turned the light back on.
I tried it but was utterly freaked out.
