I try my best to go to all activities that my children have. Between working, going to school myself, and for the past 8 months not having a license it was very difficult. I went to my younger children award ceremony and I of course get negative parents around me. The first one mouths about how people are seated, another mouths that there was not enough notice, it was just negativity after negativity with these women. I have worked for the public school system for 5 years, 4 of which were at my children school and then of course volunteering started way before then. It is not easy to get programs set up, getting timing done correctly etc. It is truly not for the faint at heart. I wanted to just tell them if they think they could do a better job then volunteer. Do you volunteer at your kids school? how active are you in their learning education? Schools need all the volunteers it can get. Be active with your kids even through high school.

It's a shame that they were complaining when the moment should have been about their kids. I have volunteered as a chaperone for field trips when my job allowed me too. Keep fighting the good fight.

I feel that a school district is only as good as the parents in the community. I love chaperoning on field trips, you really get to know your children friends =)

I love doing stuff like that, it gives me a good chance to spend time with my kids.

i volunteered when i could. unfortunately, there are some schools out there that don't want to be bothered. :( now that the kids are getting ready to graduate, i'm glad i was a part of their activities. it all started with a 17 yr old sister asking me to help chaperone a field trip to the state fair! 8D wouldn't trade that for all the money in the world!
