My parents told me that when fishes are freshly catch, they are really that tasty! Well,if I were you,you should have tasted it,that would be an experience, lol!

hi! when i was a kid and the nearby rivers were much cleaner, my father usually catches 5 to 6-footer eels locally named "palos" (a fresh-water snake-shaped fish/ eel). and i've eaten those as a kid. tastes much like most fish but the skin has a rubbery texture. of course the first time i've eaten one, i didn't actually see what it really looked like alive, only the cooked version. after seeing one up close and personal, i didn't want to eat it anymore. reminded me so much of a snake, gave me the creeps. hehe now, the only fish closely resembling an eel that i eat nowadays is hito, a freshwater catfish that is slippery as an eel but not as long as the palos that i knew of.

I have seen hito before, but we do not have that many hito here in my area myles, i do not even know how it tastes! lol.. i guess i do not see that much of those here even those palos you have mentioned because the river are not that clean unlike before huh?

when i was in vietnam they had eels served in hotels and most restaurants we went to... on a daily serving. lol rivers now are no longer as clean, yes. it's sad. but it's no longer a home for many aquatic species that used to dwell there. with other fish choices around, i need not like eels at all. still gives me the creeps when i remembered how it looked like alive. i really thought i was seeing a snake in our kitchen.

It must be pretty common in vietnam myles. hahahah it really does look like a snake, so it really gives me creeps - the reason why i do not want to eat it.

I am Sorry but I could never imagine eating something like this. Just the thoughts of it even grouses me out. I know some people do it, and that is OK but there is a limit to what types of food I would ever try.

Eels would be considered a traditional food in London, with Speciality restaurants selling them still on some streets..The supply of Eels there has had some problems due to pollution and fishing issues...I understand the Lakes (Or Loughs,as We call them!) of Northern Ireland are good locations for eel fishing, and some Produce would be Shipped to London for consumption there..I have tried various kinds of fish, but Eel wouldn't be one of the widely available varieties available on fish counters around here..

Oh it is not that common here.. this is another fact for me then. I have seen in Discovery channel how big some eels can get!

The freshwater or river eels available here would be smaller than the Sea dwelling ones like the Congers...If you're fishing for freshwater fish like trout,an Eel is probably something you do not want on the end of your line!

I have eaten eel and i also catch them here. There a various types of eel here. Some are better than other of course. But the taste really depends on how you cook them. Fried, boiled, on the barbacue, the taste is always going to change even when you put the same ingredients on them.

it is very tickle. smooth everywhere. but it is very savory and delicious when you can mix the right seasoning, and spices. do you know, that eel has higher protein than egg (per 100 gram) and has equal protein content with cow (per 100 gram). eels can be used as a cheap alternative source of nutrition, that compared with the price of beef and egg prices. it is very suitable to be consumed for baby and elderly person. it is very tasty jazel... do you wanna i cook it for you? lol

just arrange the dish not to like an eel food.lol. we can cut it to pieces. with salad, tomato, or another fresh vegetable. first time i don't like it too. if you try to make choice to eat it, try to eat when it fresh from the oven, ups, fresh from the fried tool (some like that).

I have never tried eel too, but I know that it is a delicacy even in some countries. I would also never try eating eel, because I do have food allergies. This is one of the reasons why I don't really enjoy company outings that are done in the beach because people would fawn over all the seafood they can get while I am miserably chewing on coconut meat because I can't eat the food that they are eating. I usually bring my own canned sausages, corned beef and meat loaf to such events.

I can honestly say that I have never eaten an eel before. The thought of it does not sound that appealing to me. It is [reobably something that has an excellent taste and I don't know what I am missing. Yet I will pass on the eel tasting.

I had tasted it but I refused to go on eating it. Although it tasted okay, not that good but okay, still I can't enjoy it because I have seen them swimming like snakes and I don't like snakes. Maybe if someday I find the dish with eel and the chef made it so interesting (don't have any resemblance with life eel figure, ouch!) then I will eat it .

I can understand that the eels may be strange for the foreigners since this kind of creature is very smooth and it doesn't have the fish scales. But in my country and Japan this is not a very weird food. The baking eel rice is delicious. And the eels are full of nutrition, too. I love China

hello jazel, Yes, I had eaten eels before many times. Eels are delicious fish if you know how to cook it. We usually get the eels from local sellers who catch them from the river so it is always fresh. It is actually scary to see eels swimming but they are not scary when eaten.

I haven't eaten one, but if given the chance, I would like to taste it. Actually, yesterday a friend cooked a sting ray and I tasted it- and its nice, but I never eat more than a taste. It seems my mind is wandering with the sting ray swimming out there - hehehee
