Tongue twisters, and other odd things...

You know, "she sells sea shells by the sea shore". I love them. My all time favorite is, (either version really), " how much rock could a rock chuck chuck, if a rock chuck could chuck rock". Or the wood one. Growing up we tried to make up our own sayings, tongue twisters, and jokes. I can remember how we would try to outdo the other sibling in these silly games and do them as fast as we could without messing up. Now, I have my own saying, "Dont be a stranger, or stranger than me!" I am still trying to come up with a tongue twister. LOL Have you all ever had these "wars" with your siblings? Trying to see who was the best at saying, "peter piper picked a peck of pickled peppers..." Or others like it without getting tongue tied? I would love to hear your stories...

We used to have a tongue twister tournament in our family every Saturday night! Who ever won would win a $5! We spent all week designing tongue twisters for Saturday! We would tell our mother our tounge twisters before the tournament started and she would give us 50 cents for every tounge twister we made up. Then she'd give us the easiest first, then work up to the hardest.

Must have been a blast. I would hate to lose, so I would practice them slow, and then work my way a little quicker. until I think I won well over half. I am a perfectionist, so I needed to win...

Tongue twisters are a nice thing to pass time. I think all the languages have this kind of game, because it is so simple, but we can give a few laughs with it. My English teacher told me that they are good ways to improve our knowledge of a foreign language and help us to talk with a better pronunciation. I don't know if the kids are still playing this kind of silly games, with all the technology, but I hope so. Happy mylotting.

Sister Sally sits by the seashore. Say it a few times. As kids we thought it was hilarious. We used to try to outdo each other, too. That was back when kids talked to each other instead of stared at the TV or video game.

Wow, I see it is not that easy, but, I can see why it is so funny That is so true. We had a "tv" based childhood, but we still found time to do crazy things outside, and have fun doing it... LOL

hello there, I love tongue twisters too even if I cannot perfect it myself I use to give tongue twisters to my students in China. Chinese students love it so much rather than teaching the grammar part. A few students may get it perfect but a majority find themselves stuck in a single word and cannot go on. What is funny is that they keep on saying the tonguie twister to one another even if the class has ended

Wow, it is my first chance to get back in two days...Sorry bout that. :) So, I did not know what type of tongue twisters they had in other countries, but I sure do love them. Even more so if I win..LOL I think it is great that they continue to do so after class because it just shows that they remember what they learned, and those are things that will stay with them for a long time to come.

Oh, my siblings are not a fan of tongue twister, he he but I remember my teacher from the past. She is the one who taught us about tongue twisters and I would say that it is really fun and of course, it is very difficult.
