I think people want to do things that serve purposes that are required to fulfill their obligations, hopes, and dreams. For me, I have explored many avenues to do this. I had a job that allowed me to be versatile and very much needed. I felt very good about this job because people trusted me with so much, some that were very very much higher on the chain. I have also had jobs that helped me to understand customer service on many levels. I am quite experienced in many things. I now feel I can take all of the experiences and come up with my own business so to speak. I just really need to develop all aspects of customer service, buying, selling, marketing, and creative development.

i really dont think we actually know..but i think our final destination will be a combination of all things we have tried in our life or thought we wanted to do..for instance, when i was younger i wanted to be a teacher, but i went to school for administration, i got my masters in education tho..but i went to the military and worked in administration..so when i got out the military, i started in admin..but i still have thoughts about teaching because i am always in a supervisor position, so thats a part of teaching right..but i still look at the kids tho..thats where my passion is..but whats confusing is..my talent is writing..so i begin thinking with my leadership, administration, and education skills, i could be a principal, well where would the writing come in..so then i thought about writing childrens books, then where would my leadership and supervisor skills come in at? so i still dont think i know..

So in your case, it seems like you have so many talents and education, that you don't know what you wanna do. Am i right? Its great though that you have multiple choices that must make your work exciting.

There are times where I think that we do know the direction that we want to go in life rather well. And then again, there are other times where we think that we know but we really don't. Because there is really just not enough information as we think about things. And naturally when we are young, we tend to be slightly more scatterbrained about what we want to do, jumping onto the latest thing that sounds good. In the end, we just need to go with something and see if it is what we want. Often times it might be, while other times, it is really not what we want. But you never really know until you go for it. Sometimes however, things happen in our lives where it just changes the direction of pretty much everything. As a result, the face of what we want is changed.

I see that you're still young and have already achieved your cna as nurse. You could help ill people working as a nurse. Actually for a lot of people it isn't easy to know what to want in life. We should ask ourselves what is the sense of life and perhaps we won't be able to find response immediately. I hope you can find your vocation and perform it.

Hello musicluv4life, I used to know what I wanted to do with my life. I used to dream about a lot of things. But during the time that I have achieve some of those dreams and failed on the others, there are some realization from time to time that what I wanted before, I no longer want now. So for me, it is a day to day decision on whether I want the same thing or want another. It sounds as if I am always out of focus, but no, because with everyday decision making, I am able to keep in touch with my inner self about the things that I really want.

I think it depends how old are you. If you're still in scholl or just 2 or 3 years out of school, then it's ok to try different jobs and find "the one". If not, my suggestion is: if you don't hate your current job, then do it, and do it in persistence.

When I was at secondary school I saw brochure about the Merchant Navy College. I was impressed with the facilities it had and what it looked like. It was built in the shape of a ship. It was located on the River Thames. It offered an indoor swimming pool and boats for the students to use. I got an interview and they offered me a place on the Business and Finance Shipping and Transport course. I did well enough in my exams. I was able to go there and had the most fantastic year. Wow! Sadly the government said that that college was costing too much to run. The local education authority closed it down half way through my course. I could transfer to Graves End or London. So I chose to have my second year in London. When my course ended I went to work as a children's nanny in Finland. Then I got a job as a container marketing controller in a shipping company in London. My job lasted for two years and then redundancy hit me. In the recession it was very hard to find another job. I ended up letting out my cottage, getting a working holiday visa for Australia and buying an airline ticket around the world. Coming back home more than one year later I decided to train as a primary school teacher. So I did additional studying to meet the entry requirements of universities. I studied English Literature and Education. My course included teacher training and when it ended I had got qualified teacher status. I love working as a primary school teacher.

During my childhood, I always thought that I wanted to be a musician. Then when I took the subject at A Level I realised that I wasn't good enough at it to be able to make it into a career, so I then chose to go into Psychology instead, which is what I have now gained a degree in. It just goes to show that even though you might be completely sure that you're going to do something in your life, things change and that can mean that you just don't want to do them anymore. The trick is knowing when you've made a mistake and being willing to go back and change a decision that you have made.

Yeah it can be very difficult for us to know and decide what we want out of our life. There are so many things that we can, so many different goals that we can pursue. I too thought I knew exactly what I wanted to do. I now realize that there are different things I want to do.
