Tonight at work I was just about to leave and I asked if he wanted me to do one last thing. He asked if he was working me too hard, as I work another job during the day, and also pet sit most weekends. I told him no as Ive worked everyday this week and got 1 day off last week. But I mean its 4 -5 hours. He is very lenient as well so its nice. He asked if the 4 -5 hours was alright for me, sometimes I dont understand what he is asking. I mean he asked if I wanted more hours or if those are fine. What should I say no I want more hours, give me more hours. I feel out of place nad line doing this so I just dont really give him ana answer. I mean if he came out and asked I would say maybe a few. I just take what Im given to be honest, and I sort of pick my own hours as it is. I dont mind working the 5 hours either or more doesnt bother me. I told him Im use to working basically around the clock and sleeping 3 hours so an extra few hours wont hurt me.

I think it's because he is afraid that you're going to say no if he asks you to work more than 4-5 hours. Cause he knows you have other jobs as well. 3 hours of sleep is bad for your health so please take care of your health. Maybe that's what got your boss thinking if he will offer you more hours since you only have less hours of sleep. But I salute you for that. I can't survive sleeping less than 8 hours. If I do, I feel like my head is going to burst .

That's good. Always put health first over anything else. If we are sick, we won't be able to work at all and all the money we earned will go to hospital bills and stuffs like that.. Maybe you should ask him if he needs help on something. I'm sure he'll open up when you ask him. Keep up with what you're doing but don't overdo it :)

I think you are right that he doesnt want to ask but he needs the help. I dont mind helping him out as I need the money. I am trying to put my health first over a job and I have. I try to get 6 - 7 hours sleep and now sleeping at night as well.

i think the reason why he is asking is because he wants to make sure to don't collapse on his watch. i'm sure you don't want to do that. i know you want to work hard. i admire your drive. just don't drive yourself into the dirt.

You must tell people what you want, we are not mind-readers and know only what is expressed to us. If you want more hours, you too need to make that known. Your boss seems to be willing to offer them to you bur he obviously is skeptical about offering them to you out-right. Make it easy for him to express his needs, do not be so harsh and rigid or judgmental when dealing with him. This will give him the sense that you are a bit argumentative, and extremely high maintenance. No matter how good a worker you are, you never want to be labeled as diva, that can lead to the demiss of your employment. I really is true that you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

Im use to being told my hours, when to work so I accept what he gives me. But he seems really laid back and use to people telling him what they want. I told him I work during the day, and any afternoon Im free. His wife is more like me, and she told me straight up. I usually work by myself and he calls when he needs me. I just feel weird basically bossing my boss around. I mean hes the boss and his money so if he asks for say 8 hours Ill work the 8 hours. I use to work 4 hours, now Ive been working 6 hours.

Hello Ricki, I don't know why youre boss asked that way. How long have you been working with him? if he has working with you for a long time, then i think there are moments where he can be a bit nice to you. maybe he was worried that you may not be able to take it because you have been working extra long hours as it was before that it could compromise your health. probably he is worried about your health? and not being bossy agressive? well, at least he isn't rude that's the important thing
