Well sounds like you might have a virus problem there, have you scanned it for viruses? If it isn't a virus problem, have you checked if any other browser works good when searching? Maybe you installed an extension or add on on your browser that causes it.

it happened to me too. what happened was that a change was made in my toolbar by a virus presumably. so i cleaned my laptop by removing all history, caches, cookies, downloads in the hope that the virus would be removed as well. i also checked the settings if some suspected virus is staying in my system. scan and delete the virus in your system.
