If there is pre destination how do you also have free will? Free will means you pick the time of your death; pre destination means you can't because your time on earth is destined for you to die at a certain time. This is just an example. What is your opinion of this?

I do believe in both predestination and free will. They always come together.God had already planned about our lives but He always gives us a choice to choose between right and what is wrong. For example:you found a bag full of cash;it's your destiny to find that thing. Now you have the free will what to do with what you found;to find it's owner or keep it for yourself. If you will look for it's owner you'll probably make him/her happy and maybe you'll be rewarded by him/her.If you'll keep it to yourself you'll richer by the moment but you will bear the guilt or worst go to prison if you'll be caught. Now that,s predestined but you still have the choice in your destiny.

Great answer Kareema. What indeed will one do upon discovering that you had found a bag of cash. This is where you are tested. You need that money and can do a lot with it... but do you keep it? What you do here will spell out your destiny. If you return the money you might not even be thanked. But your actions here will show who you really are - a thief and of poor character, or a person with a conscience who does not take what is not his or hers.

I guess I don't believe the same way that you do. I believe in free will, but not that I pick when I die. I die when my body gives out on me or when I get into some sort of fatal accident and I don't choose them. I live my life and make the best choices for my life. I'm not all into religion. I believe in God and consider myself a Christian, but I'm not into all that religiosity that so many people are famous for. I think of predestination as God knowing us before we were born into human flesh. There is a passage in Jeremiah that talks about God knowing him before he was born. I believe it is the same with us. He knew us before we were 'knit' into our mother's womb. Predestination could have a lot to do with genetics. We are predestined to have certain diseases because they are inherited from our parents. I might have been predestined to be a writer because my mother and her mother were both artists. They drew pictures with paint and charcoal, and I draw pictures with words. Mine is a different type of art. I won't get caught up in a religious debate, because all that means nothing to me. I'm just telling you my thoughts on the topic.

I am sorry if the question disturbed you; it was not meant to. I am Muslim and very curious about other people's views on the matter. Thanks for taking the time to write.

I do not believe in pre destination, I believe that humans are free, and are our choices those who determine our future, we are not merely actors, in a play someone elseĀ“s wrote for us, there are things, of course, that are out from our control, like accidents, and illness, but that does not mean, that things in our lives are pre determined.

I think some people have a problem differentiating between predestination and foresight. Because God is not limited by time and/or space as human being are, He can see into the future, but that doesn't necessarily mean He has predestined or planned any particular event to happen. He simply knows there are going to happen. I think free will is God not stepping in and changing what we've decided.

Life is the education of God's children. True learning requires the freedom to choose thus we have free will. On the other hand, there are the lessons at hand. We all have free will within the parameters of our lessons. Example: We don't choose our physical features, what part of the world we are born to, or the people who are around us. We do have the freedom to choose within the physical parameters we are confined in. Our freedom to choose is very important. Our choices show God and the world what we need to learn. We are choosing our lessons freely with every choice we make.

I believe in free will. Life is a journey filled with choices. We have free will to make choices concerning our lives. What we choose to do or not to do, how we choose to react to certain things, situations, people in our lives all combine to form our journey, therefore what we experience in this human life is not pre-destined. It is directly relative to the choices we make. As far as choosing when we die, I don't think we can actually do that in this life. However, the choices we make here on earth can indirectly affect when we will die. What I mean by that is if we take care of our health, it is no guarantee that we will live a long life but it can contribute to a longer life for us. Personally I think that we make many choices BEFORE we come into this human life on earth and when we die could be one of the choices we make before we arrive here in physical form. Obviously our human bodies do not remember making these choices in a different realm.
