I seldom visit this site once a day is enough for me. I came to see some updated photos and comments and even status of my friends and families. We have school group that I joined, there are lots of out of the topic negative comments, just as long they said something even it is not good. I just thought and hope that there is also a "thumbsdown" icon so that they knew that there comment reviewed as not liked or bad. Well I know everybody has their point of view but I hope also that they are aware of what they are posting. Sometimes we happened to forgot this things that's why there are many incident that are ended up fighting verbally. Your thoughts friends....

As what you said Neil, not all status are thumbs up. So to be fair they must put also thumbs down icon.

Hello, lyn. I say that there needs to be more icons for the full range of emotions. Yes, i believe that if someone is making a negative comment. you should have an icon to show how you feel about it. It makes the poster know how you really feel. Sometimes words written are meant in a way but others take them the wrong way. That is why it is good to have these emoticons as they are called. I am with you, in that thought.

Exactly I only visit that site for any offline message and nothing more. I am not active in there because I feel like wasting my time just checking what- new photos etc- duh- I better stay here mylotting and earn a little while using the net. That's what I respond to a topic last night about drama in facebook wherein people post status updates and when someone commented negative- the poster get enrage and there starts a word war (shame) I hope those poster think twice before posting anything- or if ever they receive negative comments, they should accept it- not everyone agrees with him/her and not everyone has the same thinking. That is one reason why I do not stay on that site, sometimes I even forgot about it

Me too that's why I'm not often to visit the site, it happened that last night my colleague called me to respond on the comment I was announce last week because I'm holding the grand reunion for next year. The one responded is not in line in what I'm saying about I just thought what I'm gonna say it is clear and very clear that the announcement I made is final and voted by everybody's member. But 3 of them didn't understand, that's why If I will answered them I'm only be repeatable of what I said before, but if there is a button. It will be easier said.

I thought you are talking about mylot first, but then I realized we have the delicious neg button and report button here. back to facebook, though we cant thumbs down, we can confront the offender or just report him/her/it. Is the person you wanted to thumbs down a friend or a relative.I guess facebook dont want fights.... we know how badly abused the dislike button is youtube even here in mylot.

It is just to be fair there is a "like" icon and there must be "unlike" icon too. If someones status is lonely and sad and having a bad day how do you feel about her do you "like" or do you "unlike" her status? Or instead of saying something that might them offended a is more fine. You can used also if you don't like her comment or if it is just out of the topic.

I don't visit the site often too, sometimes I don't even logged in my account for a week or so. I don't participate much in the interactions there, I've actually opened an account there to play a particular flash game, so when I'm not in the mood for playing I don't log in, and now that the game is not existing anymore, my visit is very slim. Many have been thinking of that too, that there should be a dislike button or the thumbsdown. I actually like that idea but I understand why the site doesn't put that feature in it, it could cause many troubles and online fights. There are people who would get offended and might take the actions seriously, so I guess it's a very troublesome feature. But it'll be a mind-opener to those who abuse their words and their facebook accounts because they'll know that not all people appreciate everything they do and posts in their pages. I think when the thumbsdown was ever created, I'll probably use it more often than the thumbs up. LOL! There's just too many annoying people out there, so I don't like to visit the site because some of my friends/acquaintances' posts are very exasperating. :D

This is a good idea. And I think it is fair to have the thumbsup and thumbsdown buttons. People shall share their opinions no matter they are positive or negative. I love China

I like the idea of a "dislike" or "thumbsdown" as you have put it. I've thought of the "dislike" button myself, but not because of bad comments on facebook, mostly because of statuses where friends have told of their misfortune. I want to "dislike" it show my support and that I am sorry for their misfortunes. Facebook has become "whinefest" though.

Yhea that's what I observed too some are posting just to whine and we feel for them, and using thumbs up icon is not appropriate to use. That means you "like" because they are whining.

I thought there was a thumbsdown icon at facebook. If there isn´t, I agree there should be one. I don´t know why we must only applaud when there are times we want to disagree with something.

I think having a thumbs down could hurt the feelings of the posters. It is better to just put it in the comments so people would be careful on what to say too. Facebook won't benefit from having a thumbs down too.

I think it will hurt the feelings of the poster too if it will put on the comments . There is a "like" icon why they don't have the "unlike" icon too to be fair enough to those who don't like their post.

Fighting verbally just happen if the both party started to flares up. Try not to be bothered with these people who you don't like what they say about. If we all just avoid and ignore those people who we hate then this world would have been more peaceful. Tactless people are sometimes very hard to deal with. I hope all of us see ourselves before even talking about other people.

I don't bothered with them, I don't even care about them. It's only my opinion to have a thumbs down button just to be fair. Not all status are nice there are also some forbidden post like s*x videos. Thumbs down button must be the right action for this.

Negative button is not a bad option. But people tend to use it otherwise than in the right way. It is better to have option to delete such comments or by taking this to adminstration who have to notice them as spamming. It would give them some warning not to give such comments in future. But there is no such option in facebook. As no one is controlling in facebook everyone is misusing than using it in right sense.

I believe that you are not the only one who thought about this. I, too really would like to have this feature added to this site. I have read and heard from many about this suggestion as well. I guess Facebook just doesn't want anything negative from their side. I also have to agree with your statement on people being irresponsible and sometimes disrespectful on the things they post. It's probably about time that "nettiquette" should be thought in school as well.

I sometimes think THE EXACT SAME THING my friend. I see many comments and degrading statements on there that really deserve a thumbs down. However I guess we will just have to settle for reporting them.

That is a good idea and in some sites like Yahoo if a comment gets more negative rating then the comment is not visible to other users. They can see it if only they wish to do so. Face book can also follow this. Regarding that the poster may get upset, we never can allow others to be offended by the post. So it is better choice to have a thumbs down button.
