Webster’s dictionary defines “ego” as: “the self especially as contrasted with another self or the world”. I feel it could be seen in all most all normal humans. I feel it would a condition where one thinks very highly of oneself and poorly of others and also claims much for oneself and concedes little to others. But it would be not accepted fully by others if one loves other unconditionally as without any demands or returns. But there are egos that prevent love or destroy love. May be love would be most successful if there is no ego mixed with it.

well a required and balanced amount of ego at both the ends earns respect in a relationship as it makes both the partners to follow some terms and conditions but if this ego is one-sided ,it is more appropriately termed as super-ego and emanates a dominating behavior and high-headed approach ,in such cases it merely gives rise to an unhealthy relations and in no time people usually walk out.

I think so too. A big ego can certainly make for all kinds of trouble in any type of relationship. There are people out there that think the world revolves around them. If they would take a moment to consider someone else, the world might actually revolve around them in the eyes of someone else. That would be way better than just thinking it does all the time.

Yes, I agree. Love would be more successful if we could diminish or eliminate the ego. Having self confidence & self-love is very important to loving another. Who can love another when they cannot love themselves? I think it's important to recognize the role of the ego and then use it in a more beneficial manner.
