Is there any way to stop getting emails whenever a friend starts a conversation?

Greetings Mylotters, I searched in the notifications section (http://www.mylot.com/nr/editNotifications.aspx) trying to find a way to stop getting emails whenever a friend starts a conversation since I get like a 50-100 emails about new discussions, which isn't really helpful for me since I prefer just checking for responses and comments in my email inbox and searching for new discussions through the "new" section (http://www.mylot.com/w/newdiscussions/1.aspx). There wasn't a box there about new discussions, so, is there any way to stop getting emails whenever someone starts a discussion and just keep getting the response/comments and the digest emails? Thanks :)
