I was at a Class Reunion to take a group photo and got to listen in on part of the program. The speaker was talking about the price of items back in 1947-48 when they graduated. Gas was $0.189 per gallon, bread was $0.10 per loaf and a home cost $5,000. What they did not talk about was the wages of the day. I had an Econ Professor who said that comparisons should be made in terms of how long you had to work to get the item. I think back to when I bought my first new car. It was a full size sedan and it cost me $3500. I was working and my salary was $7,000. I had to work 1/2 the year to buy the car. Now I can buy a similar car for 2 to 3 months work. Would you like to go back to the prices and wages of the Good Old Days.

Hello. I thought you'd be talking about class reunions and meeting old batchmates/classmates and/or acquiantances. Anywat, it is good attending reunions to reminisce school days. Ofcourse I would like to be back to the old days when prices of gas and commodities are affordable.

Are you willing to have the wages of the times. I remember in the 1950's having a coal furnace and we could only be away from the house for 6 hours at a time before we had to stoke the fire and add more coal. I remember my Grandmother saying that she left a job and took a new one for a raise of $0.05 a day. You had limited choices when you went shopping.
