Getting on well with other nationalities

In my home country it is multicultural. One of my white friends married a black lady and I think that is lovely. These two people are so in love and think color of a person's skin does not matter. I was shocked to read about a football match in which some black people hit and kicked! There were some students from Asia and were being treated like that. The stewards found it difficult to stop what was happening. Some of the black members of the football team decided not to go to that country due to some violet racist people living there. I like black skin and am friends with all nationalities.
Why do some people not like other nationalities?
What do you think can be done at football matches to make sure everyone stays safe?

Maximax8, racism is just a part of the world that we live in. I am a Black woman from the United States of America. It is quite multicultural here. But as a Black woman, I have a very unique history. My ancestors were brought to the United States from Africa centuries ago. This is a part of my history. Not everyone can relate. In my analysis, racism is associated with power. Not everyone accepts people of color. After slavery, The government had to establish a plan, involving politics to help the displaced, victimized Blacks. Some of the political changes involved giving Blacks the right to vote, giving us educational opportunities, and ensuring civil rights through legislation (having the ability to sit in the front on a public bus without fear of arrest and so on. I wrote earlier in an earlier post, that a place is not just a place, but an attitude. With that history, Blacks have had to find themselves as well as survive. The United States of America is a place that slavery built and the constitution founded. For the most part, not every country has been a place where Blacks have been given the opportunity to be adequately socialized into communites, allowing tolerance, friendships, and educated attitudes to develop. Even some immigrants to the United States need sensitivity training with respect to those with negative attitudes due to misconceptions they may have about Blacks. Unfortunately, if you watch the news in the United States, and are living through the current economy, being Black is quite a challenge when seeing images on some daily news programs as well as being in the competition to earn a living, which Blacks often struggle through due to historical and demographic set backs. As far as football matches are concerned, I used to work at stadiums and security along with police are there to protect people. Even though the ratio of spectators to security/police does not always make for a safe zone.

Thanks for your excellent response. It is fascinating but sad to hear about how your ancestors came from Africa and were slaves centuries ago. You are lucky that you live in the United States because it is a fantastic country but it is of course not without anyb problems. I have been there three times on my travels.
It is wonderful to hear that you used to work at stadiums and note what you say about the police and security staff ratio to football spectators. I believe that every football spectator should bring identification then the bad ones could be kept out.

I think perhaps there should be fines at football games for such things and stiff punishments. It's sad that these things happen. But there are just so many people who are racist against different nationalities. It was a good decision for the team to not go to that country. People are ignorant and at times stick with their prejudices that they may have been raised with.

I think giving out fines and stiff punishments might make the football games a lot safer. Cars are different color and nobody worries about that. I feel racist people are horrible. Yes, I am glad the black football players stayed at home so that they were safe. Life should be safe for them though. Thanks for your wonderful response.

It is very kind of you. I don't like the race discrimination. It doesn't matter that people have different color of their skin. The world will be peaceful if all the people accept to each other even if they have different race, religion and so on.
I love China

I have had a chance to interact with people of other nationalities thanks to my overseas visits, as well as some people's India visits, where I interacted with them. May be, If I had met them personally, I might have faced issues. However, work wise, I have not had difficulties so far.

I love to be in an international location because I like other nationalities. I delight in meeting other nationalities when I am on my travels in other countries. I did my degree and teacher training in Wales. My dissertation was about children's responses to picture books and one racist child was in the class. She made some very worrying comments about black characters in the stories. She got her racist attitude from her parents. I very much hope she is now respectful to black people.

The fact is that many of us are so biased towards people of our own kind that we are not ready to accept people from other cultures, and ed up having prejudiced feelings.

I think that anybody who discriminates based on the nationality of somebody else is pathetic, and I hope that they get what's coming to them. You should never hate somebody based on who they are or where they come from, because that is not their fault at all, and their place of origin cannot determine what they are like as people. I always make my mind up about people based on what they have done to me personally, and I will always reserve judgement untilI have proof about the people in question.

I believe that every single person can't change what he or she looks like for example his or her color of skin. These racist people I am discussing are neo nazis from Poland. I don't know much about them but watching the documentary I was horrified what I saw. Thanks for your superb comments.

In here, people love to be fair even though their skin is not white, not black. Many guys don't like black people just because of their skin. I really don't understand why like that.
I don't mind with skin colors, as long as that person is a good guy. I have many friends who have dark/black skin and they are very kind to me while some white guys are not really good at all.
We can't judge people just by seeing their skin, it is not fair.

Thanks for your fantastic response. I know exactly what you mean about the darker skinned people generally being really nice. I am glad that you have many friends with darker skin including some black people. When I was learning how to drive a car my driving instructor said his cousin was black and lived in America. He said if he waited on a street neighbors called the police. All he was doing was waiting for his friend.

Why are people racist? Because they are small minded, inadequate and ill informed? Because they run with a pack of bigots and are afraid to stand apart? Because they have been brought up in a household full of racists and know no better? There are as many reasons as there are racists.
Football seems to have attracted the worst type of violent thug. They work in packs and are there for the violence rather than the football. Bar exclusion from all events and the whole area, and a heavy security presence, I really don't know how to solve this problem.

Hi Maxine,
I also hate racism. Humans should not be judged by their color of skin. Under the skin color of the blood of a white and a black person is the same. Hatred ruins humanity. Hitler made genocide on the Jews because of hatred. We have to change our mindset. All colors are awesome. Nature is the combination of various colors. So colorful nature is so beautiful. In America once blacks were slaves and the white people treated them as animal. But time changed. Now white Americans accepted black Obama as their President. I hope all over the world good sense will prevail over the evil thoughts.
