Topics' titles...How IMPORTANT it is????

I have many topics that have not many responses. I am thinking that if i put another title for it, so special or so shocked or so sweet... It may be more attractive to readers and it might have more responses...In my opinion, readers see a title of a topic first, if they like it, they will open and read the topic, it is 50% success rate already. Honestly, i have no skill to put a title for a topic yet. I don't like to put a long title, just medium or very short one. Sometime i regret a bit after posting... i think if i could revise, i may put a better tittle: should be more special, more shocked, more sweet, for instance. ...

A good title helps. Choosing to put a discussion in a large interest group also helps. However, don't put a discussion about "life" or "cars" or "dogs" in "cats" because all that will do is make cat lovers ignore it and it won't reach the targeted audience.. (this is a good interest to put this in BTY) The more friends you have the more chance you have of having responses, especially if they share interests with you. AND Be ready to respond to other people's discussions, people are more apt to respond to someone who responds to their discussion. Also, respond to people who have answered your discussions, otherwise it ISN'T a "discussion" is it? I have unfriended people who "spam" me with lots of discussions but NEVER respond to a response and never respond to one I've started. I have also turned off notifications of friends who "spam" me with lots of discussions I have no interest in.

Yes, I have seen that you respond - just kind of making sure the ground is covered in case some new person stumbles across it... I do know that some people don't like long discussions... I tell stories, and if it runs long - oh well... Those who don't like it don't have to read my stories, but I try to be entertaining! You are still pretty "new" (as in low discussion posting) but keep at it - you will find your friends and know that early discussions often don't get a lot of responses because you didn't have a lot of friends back then.

according to me YES, Title is very important because we read titles on our Mylot homepage where we can see discussions started by our friends, top discussions and discussion from our interests. your title also very catchy that is why I responded to your discussion. our title should be catchy to attract people attention, there are a lot of discussions about Mylot here but if we start same discussion with different title we will surely get attention but after reading the discussion Mylotter may not response but our half work is done by attracting them and make them read our discussion.

indeed, your topic is interesting and title is catchy. if we start quality discussion then Mylotter praise us and if we give quality responses and comments we get best responses and positive rating that is why we should try to contribute quality content to Mylot. as you are old member I do not think, I need to tell all these things.

In my opinion, a title attracts a reader first. But eventually as they read on, and realized that they can't relate, they would not pursue in responding to it. I speak through experience, ryanong.

Well, the number beside my username says it, ryanong. But older or newbie , we choose what we would want to respond. It should be something we could relate or knowledgeable of.

You are totally right. I often do respond topics that i am interested or know about it. For instance, i never respond about football or Politics,... because i really don't know what to say about it

What I feel that title comes first even before the topic so this should be as catchy as possible to bring the reader to to page. As far long title or topic, no one is interested to go through a novel reading just one topic. What I feel this should be exactly like you have done that brought me here. Catchy, attractive and worth. Cheers.

Thank you so much for your encouragement. You are right, we first read a title and then read the content of a topic. If a title is not catchy and attractive, i may not read the topic also.

Hello,,my friend.and this question is always confusing me.As for me, it is my purpose to put a veru special, shocked title to attract readers. All my stories stem from our daily life. And I hope to discuss with friends all over the world about some happened around us to make more friends. For short or long, it is up to the content of your passage.I think that a brief conclusion of your story could be the best choice of your title. Good luck

Ya, My topics is what related to my life and my friends in here. Same as you, I also want to have more nice friends and i can get valuable advices from them when i am in bad situation or get problems. I agree with you too: a brief conclusion of a story could be the best choice of its title. But it is not easy to select words for the brief conclusion. it needs our skill in writing. Do you think so?

I beleieve that it is important to have a good topic title for your discussion. It is what grabs your reader;s attention first. i don't believe that the title is the most important thing but it is sessential. It is the spark that gets things going.

I have the same thinking like yours. "It is the spark that gets things going' Is it easy for you whenever you put a title for your topic?

There are times when I read responses and I can tell that the responders did not even bother to read the whole post. They just read the title and respond. It's amusing sometimes to read how far off their responses are...

If they do like that, they violate of mylot guidelines... If give response after reading only a title, it is not good because sometime the title maynot related much to the content of the topic. I won't do like that. I read a title and give a selection to read its topic or not. I give response when i read all content of a topic only

I think it is important for someone like me coz before i go on to someone's discussion i first read his or her title to see if could relate or not. Sometimes i look for titles that could really caught my attention and read for more details. Titles are really important to seek attentions of some mylotters. It isn't just useful here in mylot but everywhere. Titles are like the framework of the story. :)

I totally agree with you too. Titles are like the framework of the story... When read a title we can guess a bit content of a topic. However put a name for a title is not easy for me, i have to think about it much how to choose nice words and can talk about my topic content. Sometime, after posting, i wanna to change it because i feel it is not nice at all...but for sure, i can't change it after posting more. How about u? do you get difficult when you put a title for your topic?

I think title for every discussion has important role to make others post on it. i usually goes through the topics first. if i find any topics that interest me or find i have some thing to post then only i open that discussion and read the postings. only after that a post my comment. So if i thinks that this topic is not in my interest then i will not even bother to read the content.

It is what i face too whenever i start to write a topic...But don't worry, ONLYHOPE. I think all newbies in here have the same problem in the beginning time, with the time we will have more experience about it. Don't stop to post your topics when you have an idea and wanna share your problems, it is a change for you to practice and you have more experiences about it I hope I can see more your topics and enjoy your discussions.

I totally agree with you on this one! I myself am an example of looking at titles before I respond to some discussion. Its also one of my problems when I start a post to make sure everyone will be curious about it.

ya, i think about it...based on my experiences. I look at title and then decide to read the topic or not. After reading, i will post my discussions if it is interested, if not, i will read another topic. However, i haven't much experience to put titles for my topics to be attractive to readers yet.

Why can't you revise a title? Editing is possible here, isn't it?
