A pleasant day Fellow Mylotters, Just a quick one, I know for a fact, that it is really hard to keep a promise. That, whenever you make promises, you are putting one of your feet into a commitment that needs to be fulfilled or accomplish. But, what if, you were not able to do it. And was not able to inform the other party to whom you have made the promise, that you cannot make it for now. Thus, in this instance, I really cannot understand why there is a need to make a promise wherein at the end, it cannot be done. And, why even a short notice cannot be made if the promise cannot really be accomplish. So as not to expect anymore that it cannot be happen for today. Isn't it that, it will be easy if you will notify the person that the promise thing will not be done today instead of letting him/her to wait.

hi, promise is a commitment to someone that he needs to do,its really hard to say promise especially when we are happy, that is why i don't use this word for always because once i say promise i should do it and if not that someone will surely feel disappointed.

Promises are a test of faith and loyalty. If someone breaks a promise, then you know they may not be as trustworthy as you once thought. hen again, it could be almost like a test to see if you can forgive the person who who broke said promise. I believe promises are meant to be broken. Most of them are just adolescent of romance or naivety anyway. :)

Promises are meant to be broken. Otherwise, nobody would promise in the first place.

I think that some things should not be asked. One of them is to make someone swear and another one is to make her promise. At the most, they are an act of good will that can be done without the promise-swearing thing. In my country, judges and other public officers are made to swer over a Bible (or promise if they are non believers) that they will abide by the law. I´m sure that promising does not make a person behave better. We all know what is right and wrong with no promises to hold us.

As me, I avoid to promise too much. I only promise when the situation is need. When we make a promise, we must do it. we shouldn't broke.

I never make a promise. Because i know i would hurt a person if that promise if broken. Hence, when asked to do a favor, i would always say, i will try. That way, the other person knows that i find it hard to do it.
