Spanish debt costs spiral as crisis deepens Spanish 10-year borrowing costs neared the 7 percent danger level Aside from their real-estate mess... they doubled down with their "Green economy"... they are BEYOND screwed... another popcorn munching train wreck on the way. Spain's Green Disaster a Lesson for America Despite its hyper-aggressive (expensive and extensive) “green jobs” policies it appears that Spain likely has created a surprisingly low number of jobs, two- thirds of which came in construction, fabrication and installation, one quarter in administrative positions, marketing and projects engineering, and just one out of ten jobs has been created at the more permanent level of actual operation and maintenance of the renewable sources of electricity. This came at great financial cost as well as cost in terms of jobs destroyed elsewhere in the economy. The study calculates that since 2000 Spain spent €571,138 to create each “green job”, including subsidies of more than €1 million per wind industry job. The study calculates that the programs creating those jobs also resulted in the destruction of nearly 110,500 jobs elsewhere in the economy, or 2.2 jobs destroyed for every “green job” created.

Very good post. I'm surprised more conservative Americans are not here agreeing with you. I've pointed to Europe (as a whole) as an example for Americans to reject socialism and the top down approach to solving problems. Governments cannot inovate, the cannot solve anything without throwing money at it. It is not the role of government to do these things, its role is to provide a level playing field for their citizens to solve these problems.

Unfortunately we have a 2-party system. Both parties seem to think that throwing money at a problem will solve things. I really worry what's to become of the USA.

I was under the impression you were from Spain. I see you are from Florida. We are in this together then I guess. You and I and 300,000,000 others, and the problem is some of them are working hard to make it turn out just like Europe. People need to wake up. Thanks for pointing out that it hasn't worked in Spain. Why would America be any different?
