Need help unlocking an HTC phone...?

I bought an HTC Sensation XL in Taiwan and I want to know how to unlock so I can use it back in the US. I searched for methods online, and everything I found involved putting an American sim card into the phone, and then entering a code to unlock it. The problem is, my American phone, an LG VN250 does not have a sim card. Any advice or experience in this area? Thanks a lot!!
