Well, I've been wondering, if you make an ebook, should you get it copyrighted? There are a lot of ebooks sold (like on amazon.com). Do the ebook get copyrighted? How can we get copyrighted?

You don't have to apply to get something copyrighted. The minute that you write anything original and publish it, you automatically establish copyright. You can, if you like, include a little copyright statement - "©2012 Yheart. All Rights Reserved." - somewhere in your document (or at the bottom of every page, even), but it isn't necessary to do so in order for your work to be copyrighted. If you find your work being copied, all you have to do is to produce documentary evidence that it was previously published by you. Since everything published (especially anything published online) automatically has a date, whether you can see it or not, it is technically quite easy to establish a first date of publication.

You surely must! In no way you can publish to sell (if you are giving away that's fine maybe but you also risk to have someone claim the work as theirs) and if it gets famous... can you imagine if Meyer haven't copyrighted Twilight? She tells she did that in her biography, by reading the 'about the author' in the author's website you actually might learn a lot of things, even sometimes they give tips. Go to the National Library of your country, you can even send it all printed in an envelope and pre paid it.

You've got the point. I'd like to make an e-book and share it but I don't want anyone claim it as his/her work. Thanks for the advice.

i thought that the isbn gets its copyrighted. if an e-book does not have one, then there is no copyright for it. authors may buy isbn online. there is a fee that protects copyright. otherwise, illegal reproduction is difficult to stop if it is not copyrighted. publishers have isbn in their possessions. authors may avail of these isbns from their publishers.
