Yesterday morning i was combing my hair's daughter and i told her let us keep it long as i love making clips and ponytails for her...
but the hubby interrupted and told me to have it cut as it is long and at times it all get messed up in school and my daughter would leave it as it is... then i said it is a waste to have it cut as i would not be able to style it the way i want it..
then my daughter interrupted us and said to me, mama it is ok to have my hair cut as it will just grow! and i was like -oohhhh ok. that was something, i never really thought she would say something like that as i find it a waste to cut it.
I am glad she is one open minded kid.. i learned something from her.
in return, i took her to David's Salon and yes my two boys tagged along, ( it was not easy!) and she was happy sitting there, having her hair shampooed and cut and styled lol it is now a bob with bangs..and she loves it.

Oh so you dont do that haircut at home... you know, I tried out cutting my own hair as they never give me a shampoo or even anything else
(ya know what? okay, chocos or even a cup of coffee - during the long wait time at their place)
And it was all okay, my pic on the avatar looks okay I think... I did that haircut at home and it was a scary and horrible experience
Now for your daughter - she is intelligent enough and smart too... luckily she isnt learning/studying here... else she would have other reasons for smaller hair (may I mention those dreaded LICEs)

nice work sids! Good thing you didn't cut your ears hahaha
well my daughter is quite smart for her age, probably because i do treat her like a little lady.. and i respect her opinion as well. I hate head lice though... whenever i know she is itching i really go and search her head till i know the head lice will leave on its own because i definitely hunts them.@jazel_juan (15745)

oh then she must have sooo much lice.. with my daughter just a few actually, there are shampoos here for lice as well but i do not use it that much as it makes the hair dry thus causing off falling hair.

You did that haircut buddy?
Now you can be barber, haha! You're good! I do the haircut to my little daughter but it is only mostly trimming as I am afraid I can ruin her hair, lol!

At David's Salon? Really? Well, I think she deserved it, after that very mature and sweet behavior she has just exhibited, but don't you think it would have been better if you brought her to that children salon? I don't know if it was any good but maybe it would have been more fun for her and it could have been cheaper. the money you could have saved could have been used to buy something else for her as an extra present. It's just my opinion, though. I'm sure she enjoyed it at David's anyway.

Your daughter seems so excited with her new hair cut. Ann has a long hair too when she's young and we were also told her it is a waste if we cut it but when she graduated from college she cut it. Until now it's short

As you can see, it looks like spiral due to braid style.
She has a straight hair almost on her ankles.
This is an 8 years old hair

Haha,so cute of your daughter! where's her picture? Would love to see her in her new haircut!
Kids nowadays are really smart! I remember one time when I was so mad at my internet connection because it was on and off and I even almost yelled at my laptop, then my daughter went near me and said, don't worry mama, you can try and try again and then you will finish your work. My anger melted away, haha! And I hug her and smiled.

Hi mtr
Though I do not have the right tools at my place, I was only experimenting with that small paper cutting scissors and it took me 4 hours to have that hair-cut
Maybe it went okay, but as a profession... I am better off as a chef for the alternate professions

Kids of this age are smart enough, well its great to see your kid coming up with opinions.Attitude is an utmost important thing to carry with age and understanding else people start taking you for granted.SO its a way of learning, making your say,its an act of growing up.You should appreciate it.

I know how your daughter feels and you should be proud of her for not acting like those kids who are young yet they feel like they are prima donnas and are overly concerned with their looks!
When I was younger, my mom would braid and style my hair as well. But I didn't really think much of it because I thought that it was just a nuisance. Yes, I like that she spent time with me braiding it, but afterwards, when I'm already in school, I didn't like people looking at me and awing to the great artist in hair my mom was. Not to mention that I didn't get to play because it could 'ruin' my hairstyle for the day. I just wanted it to be free and I could just be kid and play! hahhahaa..
Soon, my mom realize it and kept my hair easy to wear and I loved it. A bob is a good hairstyle for kids because it keeps them looking young, instead of looking like a lady. Girls should be girls first. I don't really appreciate moms who allow their little girls to wear make up and high heels shoes!
Have a great MyLot experience ahead mom! hehe..

Yes i do agree with you my daughter is not a prima donna, she is easy to get along too, in fact she is pretty much so independent i miss her sometimes, she would not ask for a hug actually but i still hug her as much as i want..
she likes her bob now and is wearing it with a hair band, she still rocks her hair style.

I like my hair short.. I want to cut it always even when it's little long,, but my mother always says,, "how beautiful your looks now"
I fall to that but later, I still want to cut,, she allows that.. 'cause I'm too lazy to take care of my hair well.. it's kind of sweet with mom.....

i really do not think she was unhappy about it, in fact she was glad her hair got that long as her hair is a bit tooo slow to grow and she always wanted a long hair that is why i was surprised when she agreed to have it cut

Your daughter handled it very well! Sometimes it is better to listen to the child's opinion about things that concern them, they might surprise us with their answers!
When I was 5, my father wanted to cut my long hair very short, almost like my brother's hair and after he did it, I really hated my haircut because I looked like a boy! He didn't explain to me what he was going to do and I trusted him because he knows how to cut hair. Since then I decided that my mother should be the person that makes this kind of decisions and I should agree before doing anything to my hair! :)

Lol i know what you mean my dad often gave me those bangs when i was a kid and it was horrible.
When i was in third grade i was able to have the liberty to choose the hair style for me!

Good for her to politely find what we call a "common ground." That was very mature of her to find a solution to make Dad and Mom not argue about something that will indeed grow back.
I am a Mom of three daughters and yes I do miss the days when I use to have the caressing, loving time of doing their hair. I found that I still wanted that one-on-one time with each of my daughters. I started a Mommy/Daughter time every day. Some days we do each others finger nails, toenails, baking, crafts or story time. Hope these tips will work for you. Good Luck:-)

Your daughter likes leaving her hair as it is, haha. That was just what I did when I was a little girl in primary school. My hair was long at that time,.Mom combed it on mornings when she was free. If she was busy and ignoreed me, I would wear a crasy head to school. Often my classmates would watched me and call me "ghost", but I was too little to care it. And everyday after school, my hair would be like a nest, whether Mom had combed for me or not. Now I think that if I had had your daughter's wisdom at taht time, I would cut it when it's too long. Busy Mom had no time to care me much, and I never thoght about something about my hair. That must have brought me much "care" then !
