I don't like it when people lie to impress me. A person told me he's from New York and drives a Jaguar, when he sent me a picture it's right hand drive. Then there's a person who tells me he's an expert hacker but when a friend asked him if he could hack facebook he told her it's simply can't be done. Then a person told me he knows about the site that i'm at more than i do just to discredit it but in fact he knows nothing about it. What's wrong with this people? Don't they know that i like people who are honest to me. I like those who are genuine? Someone i can talk to openly and humbly. I don't like those who are full of themselves. Bragging will never get you a girl.

People who are insecure like to tell stories to make themselves better than they really are. The fact is since the internet is so impersonal, many people get away with it.

Didn't know they were like that when we started talking. Wasn't impressed with what they have either. Was just being polite in replying to their messages till they started talking about themselves more, giving more information that i wanted and showing off.

Were you impressed by them before you found out they lied, or did you know from the start they were full of it?

Sometimes people lie because they feel insecure. We all have times when we don’t feel good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, or capable enough. We lie to cover up our perceived shortcomings. We lie to make others feel good. We lie to avoid consequences. We lie to protect others.

Not saying this is a problem at all! Just saying that lying won't get you anywhere if you think that it could impress people, it won't.

A question for u: must believe what people say? Nobody is like you, good, fair... bla bla. That's life, other problems will be harder. :)

Maybe he imported it. I have had my eye on a lot of American cars. I hope they wont impound then for being left handed lol

There's nothing wrong with the car of course but it only proves he's lying because you know what? Right hand drive cars are not possible in America much more in New York because they use left hand drive. Get the point?

It's not allowed in New York! Even if you imported it you won't be allowed to drive that because it imposes danger.

I honestly think that some people have lied for so long, that they just do it without really thinking about it. To them, honesty would be something that would be the real lie. I think we all know that eventually lying will never get anyone anywhere in life, with any facet of it. Yet there are going to be people who still lie right through their teeth. Some people really are just so committed to the wall, it is amazing, if they had committed themselves to something more productive with all of the commitment, imagine how far they would go. But sadly no. It won't get anyone anywhere, especially when they can make claims that can be easily be disproved by something like proof, which they have none. Then again, some people just live in a world of lies, where the truth no longer exists.

Hi toni Lying to get attention of anyone is the first thing on my Never to do list. Not that I dont lie 9if I said I didnt, it would a lie too) but why to tell lies to win attention when you can be a winner by doing so many other simple things? But then, I have read and am sure you too would have read something similar - the world looks the same way as you are... so I guess, if a person feels that lies can get his/her attention, the same might work for all others. So such people would always try to look things that way... no matter how much they know about others

in fact we don't have to impress others at all. We can just be us and if they like who we are then we should be thankful Absolutely. But I guess the age and maturity plays a major role in understanding this noble thing. The teens... Ah, some(known personally to me) did do a lot more than telling lies to impress.. But then in the long run, these fake impressions dont last and when reality surfaces, the tormentation is worse

My dearest Sid, I too have told my former boss that if i told him i haven't lied before that would be lying. You are absolutely right! There are so many ways to impress others, in fact we don't have to impress others at all. We can just be us and if they like who we are then we should be thankful. Why would we wanna impress when we're already shining like stars in our own rights? Have a good day my friend!

People lie to impress others. If they lie to a girl, they are,in all likelihood, trying to get her. Some of them are habitual liers. They tell lies, because it is their habit.Often they try to show themselves to others through a magnifying glass. So never take anybody at face value.Judge whether what they say is right or true.Especially girls should try to avoid being gullible.

That seems to be the way of the world these days... People who lie are usually wanting to impress and as a therapist, I have discovered that such feel insecure and not really attractive or interesting to other people. Lying was very prevalent when I was in school.. A couple of guys I knew told lies about what cars their parents drove, and when you got to see the cars, that wasn't the case at all. The problem is that they don't realize how easy it is to get caught out with a lie.. They have to have a good memory to start with! It doesn't really make a lot of difference to me if people lie to me, but if I find out, I tend to always confront them about the lie. Lying causes stress and being a therapist, it is automatic for me to correct this... _Derek.

Thank you for sharing. Actually i do ask a series of questions and kind of put them on the hot spot so they would know that what i'm pointing out is that they've been caught. But others are just too stupid to realize that i've already found them out and continue to answer stupid things making the situation worse.

Men are always like that whenever they are trying to win a girl. They would paint themselves so good so they can make the girl want them. Good, if the girl is gullible, they can get it by that. Hmm, are they trying to win you Toni? Knowing you from your posts, i know susupalpalin mo sila ( you will block their bragging).

I really did D. In fact the man who told me he has a jaguar asked me why I didn't choose him. Told him i prefer a BMW over a Jaguar. That really hurt his ego. In fact the other day he sent a message and i asked who it was coz it was just his number that appeared on my phone and not his name. He told me an old friend but i told him he must give me his name and when he did i just said Oh, Hi! That hurt his ego again. Did he really think he's that special that i would keep his number when i've already been turned off by him several times? Man!

Those kind of people are just trying to impress you, hoping to get your attention. I'm glad you are not one of those girls who are easily impressed by the things they have or how they let themselves look intelligent above from the rest. Bragging is only done by people who are nothing 'cause that's the only thing they can do and nothing more. I also prefer honest people, no pretensions and very true to themselves.

it is good that you are careful and not gullible and easily taken in by all these horrid liars toniganzon! you never know, when you are talking to people on these sites. it is scary, because not everyone is honest, so many people are unscrupulous and sometimes even psychopathic and criminal. it is good that you have brought out this discussion to remind people that it can be dangerous to blindly trust others that you talk to on computer sites.

There's a saying that goes "If You can't blind them with Brilliance,Baffle 'em with BS!" Telling the truth isn't enough for some..they've got to try and impress their listeners with their exploits and achievements no matter how far from the truth they're preopared to go to do that.. Sorry,I'm not getting the point of the story about the Jaguar..If the Car you saw a picture of is right hand drive, then it must be an import..Or,it's a photo of a car that's in a Country that uses RHD,for example, the UK,or Japan..Does it have NY Licence Plates ? I'm unfamiliar with the procedures and criteria for importing a car into the US,so is it possible to import and use an unmodified RHD car there? If not,it appears You've caught the NY "Jag Driver" out for insufficient truthiness..
• Omagh, Northern Ireland
5 Jun 12
I don't think there's any problem within Europe with RHD and LHD cars being on the same roads, though there are a few modifications needed to convert headlight aim and such..overtaking is a bit more of a problem driving on the 2other" side of the car..Ireland and the UK have regular car transporter ferry services (and the channel tunnel!)to and from mainland Europe, and camper vans and cars, not to mention trucks, are going back and forward all the time..So,especially in summer,it's quite common to see cars driving around here with mainland European country licence plates! looks for sure like this guy was busted with his NY Jag!

Talked to my NY friends and they told me that's not possible in New York. Right hand drive imposes danger and traffic law doesn't allow that. Didn't see the plate number as he took pictures of the inside of the car. He said he travels a lot. So it's possible that it was a borrowed car and it wasn't in NY.

I have a friend who does nothing but tell lies, and he seems to spend most of his time doing so. Every time we see him, he is making something else up, and I just think it must be a second nature to him now. It doesn't even impress us anymore because we are so used to not believing anything that he says, so I am not sure at all why he still insists on lying about things. He is always lying about getting new cars and then something will happen to mean that it can't be delivered, or that he can't come and show it to us.

good day toniganzon, upon reading your post, i also feel annoyed to those persons whom you refer to. as they are just trying to imply a bogus personality. hence, they are doing this just to attract and get others attention. and this is not right and proper. that they are putting a wrong info on the people whom they met. yet, it is still best to introduce yourself honestly. that if you are telling the truth about your personality, then, you will be more attracted to others. thus, being an honest person will also lead you to meet a good friends at all. and i too, are disgusted whenever i met friends who are dishonest even to their selves.
