On the whole - no!
You can get lucky and have a super successful discussion with pages and pages of comments. But that is quite rare in my experience. Most discussions just get a few responses if you are lucky or none at all!
I guess it depends how inventive you can be! It's hard to find good original subject matter.
Commenting on others discussions carries much less risk and almost guaranteed earnings - although the whole thing could still get deleted!

The number of responses has no relevance whatsoever except that it gives you a chance to make good quality comments. You only earn from what YOU type.

The more responses, the more opportunity to comment back AND you can lead the discussion any way you like in order to extend and prolong it.
Generally, a one line response is not considered quality (although it could be in certain circumstances). A more comprehensive response is better, and one that makes for another reply/comment afterwards is even better.

No.
Your earnings are calculated daily on the quality of your participation as a whole.
The benefit to starting a discussion (rather than responding to other people's discussions) lies in the fact that, if you start a discussion, you, presumably, have something to discuss and will therefore be able to reply to the responses you get with good quality comments. If you don't comment on the responses you get, you won't earn a cent more.

I have been here for uears and, as you can see by the number that I carry next to my name, I have been busy too - but not with my pown topics. I rarely start any because I run out of time to keep up with the comments to those who respond.
A discussion is like an offline conversation and if you start one, you should not abandon it. yo should be available for those who make the effort to respond and you should comment back, furthering the topic. That is how you will earn too.
However, if you have no idea (or time) for a topic of your own, you can particpate in those started by others. Not with responses here and there willy-nilly though because that is not what myLot is about. MyLot is for discussions and that is what we earn best for.
You can spend your entire day on one discussion, have a lot of fun and interesting back and forth exchanges with those participating in it, regardless of who started it, and you will not be disappointed when the earnings update the next day, I can assure you.
Welcome aboard!

Talking about statistic.. A discussion has chance of getting more views, hence more chance to get positive rates (and negative rates as well though
), so it might affects your user rating more - means affects your earning as well
Still it would be useless if you just create a few posts a day..

Well, glad to read that..
But talking about chance..
.. lots of people don't bother to read the responses
.. or even they read it, they usually don't bother to go to next pages of responses
Discussion has a better chance to be viewed, but it doesn't mean creating discussion will always give you more earning, of course..
Number of posts we made in a day is a good indicator of our activities here. No one will earn big by just create a few posts here.
It doesn't have to be creating lots of discussions, of course. They could also give responses on another discussions or simply further one discussion.. (and of course, it's much preferable than creating discussions and then leave
)

Yup, that's right. That's the other advantage, since you have a better view about the topic. It may makes easier to further the topics, hence more opportunity for you to earn. Of course, we have to wish that there are lots of responses to our discussions so we have more opportunities to comment back..

But i think creating discussion by yourself will be more beneficial cuz it will be a topic of your interest and you would have a good idea of it.Don't you think? I have seen lots of discussions from other ppl but i dunno how to answers them because i don't have much idea on them except for some posts.

I cannot say that starting a discussion is more beneficial here or would make you a lot of earnings. It depends on the topic you created. If it is interesting to most of the mylot members, you will get a lot of responses. Having a hot topic will surely gain you earnings. If you reply to the responses that you get you will also earn from it. That is based on my experience. Mylot doesn't disclose which activities here pay us more. If you want to be sure of a daily earnings you have to create discussions and give answer also to some discussions here.

Earnings are based on overall quality participation regardless of whether we start topics, respond or comment. However we ONLY earn for our own activity.

Thank you for posting this, BysenBase. I have learned something the new from the Discussion you have had with the other peoples. This is very informative. I guess it is the best if we type lots and lots of words and letters. And the best way for to do this is to have our own the Discussion. Now if only the people would respond to my Discussions!!

It doesn't have to be on your own discussions. If you see an interesting topic, even though it is started by someone else, you can "land" on it and respond and comment to those who have already responded. You can do it over and over again and, because you only earn for your own particpation, if your contributions are worthwhile you will be earning while doing that too.

You seem to be the first responder in many cases. I notice that you jump in a lot!
Now you need to learn which discussions to avoid - those that are against the guidelines - so you don't waste your time and see them deleted later.
You also need to go back regularly, to comment on comments, and add new ideas and concepts.
Good luck!

Thank you for the input. I try to return and talk with people, but I also try not to insert myself too much into other people's discussions because I find it rude and annoying when other's do it all the time.

Starting a discussion necessarily demand grasp and knowledge on the concerned topic. The discussion is supposed to evoke as much responses as possible. On the other hand responding to a discussion arouses keen attention and interest on a specific topic.

Starting a discussion and answering others', Each has its own benefits and drawbacks. While responding to others, you will have to keep searching for proper topics to comment on and even if you do, there is a possibility of the topic itself getting deleted for violating the rules.
If you start your own, it's easy to keep up with it, and the more responses you get, the more opportunity for you to reply and earn. Also, you have scope of taking the discussion long if there are regular responders.
But, it depends on the topic and how it interests others. If it doesn't interest many, you get fewer responses and hence you can't prolong the discussion.
Starting our own discussion is a very tricky thing to do. Either you must have a good REAL topic about yourself, or something which is liked by all commonly.

Thanks for your answers.I've learnd a lot from it which i didn't knew about.i think i sould probably start making more of my good own discussions rather then responding to others.Don't you think it would be much easier?

I honestly more often or not these days prefer responding to discussions, only starting one when I feel like I have a good idea. Of course, the lesson that I learned a couple of times, is what I feel might be a good idea, is not exactly the best idea that translates to all that many responses all of the time. It is a matter of timing if anything.
Of course, start a discussion, reply to all of the replies, and perhaps you might find yourself with more replies. Or perhaps not. You just never know what is going to happen on this website. There have been some discussions that I have thrown out on a whim that have gotten a great deal of responses and some that have I have put a great deal of thought in, not as many responses.

I think all works the same way but you might earn more if a discussion that you started get alot of responses and you respond back to all of them. It also depends on the quality of your discussions/responses.

Well personally I don;t know what pays more, but I don't even care! See yeah I like the fact that they pay for participation, but I am also here to have fun. So for me I like starting conversations and answering them.
I hope that helps. Just try both its addictive:)

I would guess that doing a combination of both is a good idea. But I am pretty sure that they calculate you're participation as a whole over a certain amount of time.
