It's actually a poem from the early 19th century entitled: "The Curse Of Pere Marquette River" which has the story of one chap named "Herb", and his fateful encounter with the "Man with catgut beard". I read it from the book "Haunted Homeland" by the renowned author of Haunted America series, Michael Norman. It's really been awhile since I last read a very compelling, yet hilarious story such as this one. It also has that Parable-ish thing because it also illustrates how discontentment, greed and self-centeredness affects one another- which, in the story and in this case, was the main culprit of why the curse was laid by the spectre that haunted this grand old stream/river into the Man with the Catgut Beard and eventually, Herb. It's really a very good one. You should try to find this one. Nice Day ahead fellas!
