Weird...my boss called me and I'm on rest day

I was sleeping in the office quarters along with other agents slumbering. I tend to do that before going about 20 to 30 miles home since that's safer to travel when it is the wee hours in the morning. My boss called me saying that work force is looking at me. I texted her beck since I wasn't able to answer her call as i was away dreaming (seriously, and my phone with a "Chris Benoit Theme" ringtone rang) and i was like; whoah... I check the name it is definitely my boss. I asked her in a nice way; although disturbed due to being on a rest day mode syndrome. I send a text asking and she did replied; "Workforce is looking at you; are you having a Wednesday- Thursday off? I answered; "...yes, and I'll be back on Friday" As we greet each other good morning, I also double check my time. Yes, it is Wednesday indeed and please don't take away Wednesdays from me. It's my rest day (although in my life having a lot of workload and demands; I can't virtually have that ample time to chill) It is just the fact that I don't want to think a lot about my primary work right now. i want a total break-free from the production floor. Have you experience this bizaar situation like this before? Tell me more about it. Thanks and Happy mylotting :)

hi resy. experienced the same thing last thursday. it was my day off as well so i was surprised when i got a call from my british manager.i wasn't able to pick it up and my phone rang out. after a while, i received three successive text messages from my manager but the messages were empty. i was about to call him when i received three messages again with the words 'asan na?'. for our foreign mylotter friends, that is tagalog for 'where is it?'. i was really stumped because i know that my manager doesn't speak much less text in our native tongue. i called his number but the call kept getting dropped. i decided to call the office and get one of my colleagues to email our manager. turned out that our manager lost his phone and dropped it in a cab a week ago. our manager was apologizing to me profusely when i saw him again in the office after my days-off. anyway, glad it was only the phone that was lost and not our manager. lol! end of story.

That's not weird for me. That tends to be the norm at my job! LOL What is weird is when my boss actually gives me a schedule and keeps it. However, that happens too. Just not as often as being called in on my days off. LOL Happy mylotting!

So there are sleeping arrangements possible at your workplace? That has to be of more benefit for the workplace if the workers will stay on the premises rather than going home..I'd rather be home in my own bed if I was off shift..The last thing I want on my days off is to be contacted by the Job "offering" me an extra shift..

I don't have a job yet but I'm sure being disturbed on a day off is not something I would like to happen to me as well. It's called day off for a reason, and obviously it won't be a day off anymore if I don't get to feel like I'm off the job for the day. I wouldn't mind it if it was an emergency to which only my skills can be of help, and if I'm not doing anything planned for that day, otherwise, I would rather they chose someone else to bother.

I usually experience that when I was still in College. I was working student and working in fastfood chain that time. My supervisor would always call me to report to work even if it is my rest day, and most of the times, would ask me to render overtime. But during that time, I am more than happy if my supervisor would ask me to stay longer since that is my first job and the food is free :D

Thats weird that your boss phones you on your day off, at my work place we are short staffed so i regulary get phone calls on my day of asking me if i want to come in and work. Its a bit annoying because i want to spend time off with my family and enjoy doing other things so i dont want work ringing me.

Work always calls me lol... I work with fixing computers and am on call all the time so if something goes wrong when I am not at work they call me to come in and fix it! Sucks but it is the nature of my job! I can get called anytime of the night and on weekends :(

I am sorry to say that I am not quite sure what you mean. Are you saying you over slept at the office? You went to a special room to slumber before leaving for home but ended up sleeping all night, and thought it was your day off they asked you to stay to work? Sorry I just wasn't sure what you meant. The job I work at we can't sleep unless we go to the breakroom and do so on our break.

I have a full time job in a retail store & part time job as a translator... I used joke around with managers at my full time job how funny it was that my part time job pays me more than the full time job does... Most of the times, I'll tell my part time job about my schedules in my full time job so they don't get crossed... When I'm not on a schedule from my full time job, I'm usually on call from my part time job... I get phone calls constantly... I remember one case I was given from my part time job that I ended up staying on the phone for 7 hours... Commission check I got from that was more than the check I got for 2 weeks at the full time job... If I had the choice, I'd much rather do the translator work for full time but the jobs are too far in between... I do have a daughter & my girlfriend who lives with me so I need more of consistent income... I hate the fact that while I'm on a call, I'll get calls on some weird time of the day or even at night...

My boss doesn't really bother me when I am at home on my day off from work. I guess if there is a real need to fill in at a position in an emergency situation then I will have to come into work place and then I would have to come in and do the work. Somtimes I would have to exchange the days off with someone else because they have something to do on the day off.

Hi resy, I am not sure of your setup of what you were saying about your schedule... But I do that when I was working, my time was my time and I always kept it that way by not even returning calls to my job...I thinks its eccential that they respect my time like I respect theirs... Enjoy your evening!!!!!

Hi resy. I experience those things. I am a public servant and I consider on duty 24/7. Just like on the 12th of June, we are supposedly on a legal holiday on that day, but we received an order that we have to attend the ceremony for the event. It's okay, it's part of the job.

Well to be honest with you I am sort of just a number at my job so no body really bothers me about working on my days off .lol I am betting by the sound of it you work at some sort of call phone centre. I have not done to much of that type of work myself, but I am thinking of trying it in the future. But yeah I know how you feel, at my last job I was bothered every day i had off to work more and it was driving me crazy!! of course I like the money:) do you mean chris Benoit the wrestler??
