Recently, Abbott Labs agreed to pay $1.6
billion dollars for misbranding an anti-seizure drug. $700 million of that was assessed as a criminal fine! This is a class action people should jump on.
So basically, this drug company is just as nefarious as some of the biggest white collar criminals of our time and they are allowed to stay in business.
If you remember Michael Milken, the junk bond king, paid a total $200 million in fines. Although I hear he is doing good work with cancer research and is paying to get a presidential pardon.
Then we have Jeffrey Skilling from Enron who paid a $180 million fine. It proves, if you have enough money, the laws are different.
It's a scary thing.

What a shame, teamrose. This is beyond scary.
Unfortunately, I think that this is the way things have always been. When one really thinks about the reality of this, it is terrifying.
How does one pay for a presidential pardon? Will Milken be paying a campaign contribution, or something more personal? In what way will he pay? Cash or something else?

Yes, it's a self-serving system of greed. There are no incentives for politicians to not serve themselves. I am sickened every time I think of their health care provisions compared with their constituents. Why would it ever change? They have it made.

I saw this story pop up in several of the health blogs and websites that I follow during the last week. Criminals is what they are. It is so wrong that they can get away with this sort of behaviour. Meanwhile the real health professionals are being deemed illegal and shut down. It is very scary what is going on in the world at the moment, very scary for the future of our world. Profits are all that seem to matter to the people running the world. They have absolutely no interest in the health of the earth or it's inhabitants.
