hi mylot friends, Every time when I buy something I pay mostly in the form of currency note, even I have change with me first I will offer currency note, because collecting change Is my habit, two days back ,after coming to the home in the night, I remove all change from my back pocket of pant and kept it on my computer table, While keeping the change on the table I found that a strong coin of 5 rupees, then I took it and checked with my glasses, then I found that , that is a one sterling pound British coin, but I do not find any sign of country on that coin, but the one side is the symbol “Coats of Arms” and one pound embossed and the other side of the coin, the figure of Queen in middle of the coin and left side “DGREGFD 1983” and right side ELIZEBETH II, the coin made up of Bronze I think, I think the British pound approximate rate in Indian currency is Rs 85.661 ,so one more coin is joined in my coins collection, when I check the rate of the coin is like this from site; wiki answers.com A British 1983 nickel-brass One Pound coin (Elizabeth II)(Royal Arms design - edge = "DECUS ET TUTAMEN")(Proof FDC), could fetch up to £5 GBP. It does sound like the coin you found is worth quite a bit of money. Sometimes I find some strange coins from different countries in the change I get. Then when I research it online and find out out it really isn't worth very much. So I just trade it in at the local bank to get back money in my country's currency. Now I check all the change I get to make sure there are no coins from weird countries and correct the cashier when I do get one.

At the grocery store I work at, one of my customers left a Mexican five cent piece. I thought that was interesting, who knows what happened to it as after I left I didn't think of it again. I know it's not on the register now though. It could be one of the customer service people took it and counted it with everything else as a penny, who knows. Eitehr way that's interesting you found that, do you think you'll ever sell it?

hi somecowgirl, thanks for immediate response, i could not find the actual figure of the coin which i am having now in the web, there is mistake on my coin in the original coin, the letters Elizebeth II is on right side of the queen and the other letter are on left side of the queen but in original coin they were changed, and one more thing in original coin picture i have found crown on the queen, but in this coin the crown is not there, the coin also old,i found some negligible scratches on the coin, how to find out my coin is original or not, and i too have some old currency of 5000 Peso note of mexico that is some 40 years back ,how to find out its present rate, if you know let me know about it? have a nice day

I am collecting coins. My mom lives in UK so I have few coins from Brit and bills as well. I also have bills and coins from India. One of my Indian bill- a 2 rupee is very old one. A friend gave it to me- he kept it for a long time and this bill is not circulating in India anymore. So, this one (I have) is a treasure

I think you are off to a good start on your hobby of coin collecting, most coin collectors start out collecting international coins when they first started, if you keep it up, you will end up specializing and collecting older and more valuable coins made from cold or silver, you are also on the right track by researching and giving time to your finds, good luck
