There is a scientist Russia who said that he have the key to immortality. He is currently developing and making a robot or Android that have the ability to transfer human mind. Its going to be like an avatar for your soul. so yeah its going to be a robot that will act like as a container for your soul. so you can continue roam this planet and live even if you are physically dead. He said this mind transfer technology will be finished by year 2045. if this project will be successful rich people can continue living on this earth via robot avatars. source: http://zazenlife.com/2012/05/24/russia-2045-project-immortality/

"2040-2045 : a hologram like avatar" : it sounds like a ghost for me. Who would like to be a ghost ? I suspect that a ghost life would be soon boring. And for the robot version, no thank you : I have seen Robocop, and his life was not enjoyable at all. If AI continues to improve, I suppose it will be possible to mimic fully a human brain before 2045. When it will happen, human beings will have serious troubles, as computers will be able to replace them everywhere.

There are certainly advantages to be a pure spirit. Immortality can be an interesting item to buy, but they have to offer a trial period -- let's say 100 or 200 years --, to permit us to verify if it is worth the price.

I guess I want immortality because of my never ending hunger for knowledge. I will consider it if my robot body will look good, cos the sexrobots being marketed in the US looks ugly as heck.

also can robots feel sensation? I just can imagine my self living in a body that is just numb 24/7.... I wotn be able to taste flabors of food, I wont be able to feel the pleassure of touching or warmth of a hug. I guess only advantage , I can walk around the moon with no space suit. I kinda like the stemcell option more, You know I like the idea of being flesh and blood but still able to live for centuries and look young.

The world technology is booming. But it can't replace human mind.It is not possible because human mind is awesome. All the other things are possible.Android is a nice technology, i started loving it.Now looking for a advanced technology. This won't stop till world end.

well its human mind, But a robotic body. If you read this discussion its about a technology where a person can continue living as a robot before they will die. based on the way you talk, you are thinking this topic is about android phones. I am talking about android robots.

Well, you have to admire their business minds. They have given enough time to collect a sizeable down payment before the process is actually ready. Not that I'm sceptical, it isn't such a big deal really! The human brain is much slower than our present computers and biological memories have already been made. The final interface arrangements cannot be that far away in time. The only thing that might concern me, is that my robotic body might be stored away in a closet for evermore by my grandchildren! Still, I don't think I will be able to afford it anyway!

I just hope this doesnt mean Paris Hilton will be on earth Until God or Aliens decided to destroy earth. This android thing will be offered only for rich people and its going to be expensive I think. It might feel weird though, if we will ditch our flesh and blood body for a robotic body, does it mean we will live without food and air. Imagine not breathing and imagine not eating..... Your source of energy will be a charger.

I don't think Paris Hilton is going to be remembered for her brain. And if we were only brains then, what would we do with her body? It's not as good as it sounds, is it?

well if you are a 98 year old bed ridden elder, Your choice will be either Meet up with God(if you are good) or meet up with Satan (if you are bad) becoming a robot is the other option.

Oh immortality, it's still a long shot, but I am unsure how this project will be funded. If the mind transfer technology will be finished by 2045, there's going to be a great need to funds. But it is scary to think if this technology were to fall into the wrong hands. Greed fuels corruption in people; when there is a technology like this available, then I hope that a world war does not occur from this advance technology. This idea somewhat resembles the movie "Surrogates" with Bruce Willis. Artificial bodies move around the outside world while the real body stays at home.

The downside, once this technology is available, annoying people like Paris Hilton, Justin Bieber, and the Kardashians would be able to afford it. No way this technology will be shared for the poor.
