Just a reminder that The Belmont or Belmont Stakes is tomorrow, Saturday. Will we see a Triple Crown? It's been a few years since we were this close. I believe that Smarty Jones was the last horse that won both The Derby and The Preakness but fizzled out at The Belmont.
I remember how excited I was at the beginning of The Belmont and how disappointed I was during the race when it was apparent Smarty Jones would lose.
I would love to see I'll Have Another take the crown!!!!

It certainly makes you wonder. I have a feeling it is like everything else and is about politics to a degree. There are certainly a lot of disappointed fans as well as all the revenue that was lost, as you said. What a disappointment to the world of horse racing.

All of us fans who were going to watch it are terribly disappointed but imagine the money lost by Belmont Stakes and many, many others. Probably a lot of people who had plans to go will now not go. Some tickets will not get sold. Bets will be off. Concessions and souvenir vendors will lose money.
Then, too, there were probably many fans who bought package deals to Belmont because they hoped to see a Triple Crown Winner. Now what?
Horse racing has a long history of being dirty. I wonder how dirty it still is. I keep wondering if races are still being fixed.

Terrible breaking news. I'll Have Another is NOT going to run tomorrow. A press conference is scheduled for later today.
Oh, I am so very disappointed.

I heard. I'm bummed too But I rather have him not race and live than have him run and have to be put down.

Hello friend,
I just saw the news also. So sad. I was like you and looking forward to seeing "I'll Have Another" run but I'd rather they not cripple the horse just for a race. Tendons are the problem from what I just saw of the interview with the owner. He is retiring the horse completely from the racing circuit. I'm sure financially, he has made a lot and will stand to make more with a live horse put to stud. Praying the horse heals nicely and we will see some of his children at the races.

There are no words to describe my disappointment. I won't watch the race tomorrow as I am just interested in seeing a horse win The Triple Crown. I was so excited and so hoping as were thousands of others -- maybe millions of others.
Yes, it is better to pull him than have him crippled or worse. I hope that he will have a long and happy life being a lover and ladies man.
I have read and heard that we run the horses too young in The United States and we are not using the most appropriate turf. That is why the horses have so many difficulties.

I just foud out I'll have another is out of the Belmont Stakes! His trainer noticed one of tendons is swellon! So no go on the attempt for the Triple Crown! That bites because I saw affiremed win the last one in 1978! It has been 34 years since the last Triple Crown winner! It seems like it will never happen again! We will have to wait until next year!

Was it thrilling to see Affirmed win The Triple Crown? The crowd must have been on their feet as the horse neared the finish line. Were they going insane?
I am so disappointed. it seems like there is a terrible curse on The Triple Crown. I will not be watching the race tomorrow.
