Though mobiles/cellphones are utmost helpful in the present century , it has also caused a lot of nuisance. As I had an early assignment in office today, I had to leave early.Usually I enjoy the morning ride to office looking at all the nature waking up, little birds..hurrying people , school kids and feel of chill morning etc..But today as I had assignment I was constantly called by colleagues/manager several times and I could not have a good enjoyable ride in the morning.I was really annoyed with the cellphone in my hand. I was just wondering how 'calm' people lived when there were no cellphones? I do agree its helpful and critical most of the time for communication but its annoying for rest of the time.As you have your cellphone all the time, you are always available to anyone calling you any time.Has it made us more available?, Has it taken of our time ? Our space?

We are to live in doing our duties. And for the sake of duties we are to keep mobile phone. Mobile has won over time and space and has smoothened and speeded up communication. But we should keep our phones off in the time during which we are supposed or instructed to be available. Actually mobile phone spoils the tranquility of our mind and snatches away the peace of our mind.

I am really speechless to what you just posted.Thats absolutely right. We have so many medium of communication and cell phone is one among that. But definition of duty does change from the time of Einstein , it has nothing to do cellphones its just a part of duty. The level of communication we are committed is really stressful to an extent.

In my opinion, duties have nothing to do with cell phones... Phone is just a tool... "And for the sake of duties we are to keep mobile phone." Does that mean in 1950's & 1960's when cell phones weren't widely avaliable, nobody was doing their duties? Does that mean Albert Einstein wasn't doing his duties in his time because he didn't have a cell phone? If you look at the school system today, not having a cell phone doesn't mean teachers aren't doing their job... My point is, cell phones are nothing but a small tool we use to make our lives little simpler... I don't understand why people put so much importance on cell phone... And interesting part about all this is, I have a job that depends heavily on being able to communicate... Cell phone does play a big roll in my job but cell phone isn't the only way for me to get the message across... I have laptop that I can access emails... I have office phones... I have iPad that I can link to wifi in coffee shops... Fax machines come in handy few times a day... And while I'm on the topic, there are times when I used my phone to call my daughter... Doing so actually puts my mind at ease & helps put a smile on my face when I'm having a hard day so I guess cell phone doesn't really have to spoil tranquility of our mind...

Cellphone has been a big part of everyone's life. It is useful in many ways e.g texting, calling, surfing and have yet to discover anything new. But the downside of having a cellphone is everyone can be annoying when you don't want them to contact you. Also, If you're using it too much and sleep late. But overall cellphone is really useful nowadays especially when you are far.

Yes I donot deny that what all you have mentioned have actually created a revolution in the way we communicate but as and when cellphones are taking over us, we are becoming addicted and have forgotten to see the world and enjoy!..here goes an SMS i received recently 'As and when the apple gets slimmer and slimmer , people get fatter and fatter'

Yes there are so many apps developed for phones which makes it an entertainment machine rather than a calling machine!

Nice one. Yes, definitely the basic use of the cellular phones are for connecting people but developers now are creating more ways in order for people to buy their products. Now, some people buy cellphones for fun and not to contact others.

not everyone has a cell phone, I never had one in my life and I do not want one. I see no need to have one at all.

Personally, I believe it's not the cell phone itself but how people use it that makes a difference... Some people complain about cell phone waking them up in the middle of the night yet they choose to leave it on when they go to bed... I got a very simple solution for that... If you don't want to be bothered by it, then TURN IT OFF...!!! I'll be available when I want to be available... Also I don't have to answer every call... When I don't wanna be bothered, I usually turn my phone off or leave it on silent & check it later to see if I have any missed calls... If its important enough of a call, they'll leave a message... My ability to be "calm" & be "relaxed" doesn't depend on a cell phone...

wow tats brilliant solution!,yes if its important they ll leave a message...but what i thought was it would be rude if i switched off the cell..but yes its reciver's preference to choose whether he can pick the call or not.

My definition of being rude is when somebody keeps calling me when I clearly don't wanna be bothered at the moment... It's quite rude for people to automatically expect me to or assume that I will live my life on their schedule while they have no respect for my time & space... I will not live my life on other people's standards or expectations... Nor do I expect others to do the same...

I agree, with the cellphones present, we are all easy to reach. Some are even addicted to it and cannot live without it. True that It can bridge communication but sometimes, it's used to abuse. Sometimes, we can't get a quiet time because of the continuous ringing and beeping of calls and text messages. Some students can't even concentrate in class because of texting.

Thats a valid point!..younger generation is more addicted to cell phone usage which is also leading to lot of abuses reported.I keep seeing teenagers always texting and talking in the phone which can also affect their studies.

I agree a cell phone can be great when we need it but at the same time it can definitely be annoying when you just want to be left alone! Lol. I have had this happen tons of times. I just wanted to enjoy my show or enjoy time with my husband and kids and my phone would not stop ringing!

There are many times I can remember life before a Cell phone, and before a Computer, etc. for that matter as well. I think overall it was a much more enjoyable time usually with a lot less stressors as people had more time to relax and be themselves. Now it is all about the phone, computer, etc. instead of being able to relax, think and be themselves. Sometimes I can honestly say I miss them.

At times, I found it really annoying, some strangers' calls, and some people I don't really want to talk to constantly calling me. I just want to turn it off, and give myself a peaceful day. Have you thought about smash your phone, or simply turn it off so you won't need to hear the ringing tone? I might have thought it before. But eventually, I still need that cell phone for myself, for emergency sake.

Not it is so peaceful if I forget the phone for a day! Yes, in fact, I enjoy the day when I forge my mobile when I left to office. Yes, there was a feeling of 'something missing' for the whole day, but really a peaceful day and I really enjoyed the day without a mobile in hand. Many years before I used carry the hand towel in my hand wherever I go, as I cannot tolerate the sweat and I would carry the stuff all the time wherever I go, now it got replace with mobile. Useful, convenient, and the mobile did a lot and will do more on it. But it is really peaceful while thinking of those days where there was no mobile phones...

I agree that there are so many disadvantages of mobile phones . As you said, it made us more available for the public. Many of people may call you and sometimes irritates you for their own achievements. It is really annoying. But, as compared to their merits these nuiasnces are just negligible. That is the reason why mobile phones are still used by the people .

Cellphones will make us available us all the time when they are kept ON. This is the one of the great benefit of mobiles phones. So every has alt least a phone with them all the time. I feel mobile phones are the ones which creates a great disturbances in our life. They will make us hurry and it will lead us to get into a lot of mistakes. More over they will make us to miss a lot of good time around us.

Cell phone has made us to lose some of our privacy. But the question is do we own the cell phones or do the cell phone owns us? Some people cannot stay a minutes with their cell phone off. Indeed cell phone has taken our time. As it has advantage so it as has more disadvantage.
