With the development of technology,e-books are becoming more and more popular. They are available for your computer, cell phone,P.D.A. or other electronic device.Everywhere you ture ,it seems, people are using electronic devices rather than reading traditional printed books. Some people are of the opinion that e-book might someday come to replace traditional books .E-books are cheaper, more portable, more easily available and take up no physical space .In this age of junk and clutter, many people have come to prefer e-books' convenience and neatness. In addition, many people do not read books more than once,so buying traditional books seems to be a waste. In my eyes ,both e-books and traditional books have their place. For those books that people will resd just once for interest but not want to keep ,e-books will probably overtake traditional books .However ,I believe that there will always be a place for traditional books ,as there is something quite unique about holding a book in your hands to read. There will always be books that people will want to keep on their bookshelves to read again and again~~~~ so mylotters, how do you think of this?????

The ebook maybe easy to handle and easy to carry and all.But for some people who love to read. The feel of having a book and reading is much different from just having an ebook. The same goes for me.I read ebooks when i cant find some book.but when i have a choice,i only read a real book. That is how i like it.

No.EBooks and the real book have big differences besides from their appearance.Technology nowadays is involving and yet nothing can replace the old school books.I like ebooks, I read my favorite romance fiction electronically, but nothing should replace our dear old traditional books. Some traditional books contains valuable infos from that past :)

Traditional books can never be replaced by the net or e-books. The same goes for our libraries. The reason is this, as an IT I know the importance of these hardbound books and documents. Should anything go wrong with the human network, it'll always be the books that we run to. Take out libraries and books and you'll get a stone age of human race once again if you get a massive blackout in the planet. Besides, if you wish to retain you two good and healthy eyes, you'll want to read your novels in books than in your gadget.

I imagine the younger generations will see the e-book as how to read. But I just finished homeschooling my son for the last 3 years of his high school. All his lessons were on the computer. While it seemed convenient, When my son had a question to ask me later, we were online trying to find what he wanted to discuss what he did not understand. So to make it easier we printed every page for the whole 3 years off. May as well had textbooks for the amount of paper and printer ink we used. My son was able to study easier and highlight things he did not understand and had questions with. While we are living in a world of instant everything, one thing you don't want to be instant is making sure you get a good education. Being his teacher it was also easier for me to read the lessons and make notes of things I wanted to bring of importance to him. Now coming from a lady that is almost turning 60, I have a smartphone and have 4 classics on my phone which are free and will read a chapter a day. But for me and my age I guess nothing replaces a good book. I have looked at the prices of e-books and some of them are not as cheap as going in a good bookstore and finding a discounted book. If you enjoy a book and know someone else that reads, you can pass the book on. I seldom ever pay over 5.00 for a book and I have seen e-books as much as 14.99 maybe more. You won't want the ebook to hold memory after you read it so to me its like pretty much throwing your money away. What if you later wanted to use the book for a book report, or adding to a report you are working on? Even with the age of computers when my son did his term paper we spent many hours in the library getting information on his subject. It was much easier to get the information at the tip of your hands than trying to go back through e-books I would think. I know my son does and did prefer the books over an e-book. He said if he didn't remember something quite right he could read it again.

Ebooks are really popular now because it is too portable. Ypu can read anywhere without carrying too much weight like paper books. But ai think oaper books wont be take for granted as this ebooks spreading too fast. I do have ebooks with me all the time but still keep paper books at home and still buying in second hand stores that offers lower price.

Yeah I think right like you. But I don't think that lots of people will prefer e-books that the printed one. Yes they are cheaper but I think that most of people will prefer the printed because it is better to go somewhere outside in the nature and relax reading a book. And also reading an e-book no matter on laptop or P.D.A is bad for your eyes. So I prefer and also think that the most people prefer reading a printed book than e-book.

I don't think books will go away within my lifetime, but eBooks are rapidly taking over. They are really convenient. I don't have an eReader yet, but I will probably get one just for reading at night.

I sincerely hope not! I love reading and I also love to hold books physically in my hands, it just feels great. I know that technology is changing the way we read books but I will definitely favour the printed book over an ebook anytime. I have my own private bookshelf at home and it looks great and I get a sense of achievement from having read and collected all those books and now they are on display for others to see. The turning of the pages in a printed book is nice; you can actually feel the quality and texture of the pages and you cannot experience this is any ebook or the use of a kindle! I hope that the printed book will always be in existence as it would be a real shame if physical books were to disappear forever. Andrew

No way please. Although, E-books are really becoming popular, I would still want the traditional books. E-books hurt my eyes and I love the smell of paper. I think, as long as we still have trees, most people would still prefer the traditional books over E-books.

I completely agree with you. I think the same way as you do. With technology things are changing rapidly and drastically. I'm sure we are headed in that direction. I don't want that as I love to read a good book. I would rather read something I can hold in my hand than have to sit in front of a computer or stare at some sort of screen.

I think for most people your right. But not for me. I really enjoy the old fashioned way. I don't buy a lot of books but when I do I read them over and over again. I buy them from like dollar general. They have books for $1.50. If I really like it I will definitely buy it! I am old fashioned I guess...

This is the trend already. Here in the Philippines, some private schools have started using e-books. So instead of carrying heavy textbooks, students have their tablets where the electronic copy of the textbooks are loaded. I think there is a possibility. But it's too early to tell yet as the world is really changing so fast.

As I see it, E-books will not replace those traditional books. E-books can be a good supplement to those traditional ones. Definitely, it will enhance or it will support those physical books. E-books and those physical books have advantages and disadvantages but in the end, I believe, they serve as one purpose, that is to keep us informed.

For me, e-books are great innovations. I get to scan or read entire books on my laptop, in the comforts of home. Whether we like it or not, some good books are hard to find. Hence, e-books that can be downloaded for free are a boon. There are also bestselling books sold at regular prices in bookstores, but if I can get hold of the electronic format, I get to use my funds for other essential stuff. I have friends, though, who still prefer traditional books they can keep on their shelves. I also like having traditional books. In fact, I often get them as gifts, and I get to enjoy reading them wherever I go. The downside of having several books, though, is that they add to the clutter in my place. Since I have a small dwelling place, I'd rather not fill up my small dwelling space with books I've finished reading. I lend them to friends, instead. I believe e-books are not about to overtake traditional books, at least not in the next two years. Does anyone share this belief?

Before the printing press there were people who would travel around and tell the stories. It was easy and convenient and even the people who could not read could enjoy the books. When books became easier to get the wealthy used to buy books and put in their library to show people how learned they were. As time went on reading became more important and a good way to expand ones knowledge and therefore more valuable. Why should ebooks be any different? I think they have their place and if they get more people to read the that is great.

Novels I want to read - Paperbacks in the store
Perhaps no.I still want to find myself getting asleep with a hardbound book on my chest. But presently, I have ebooks as my textbooks. Instead of carrying very heavy voluminous books on a knapsack, I have them on my cellphone..

E books are i think a crase. This technology upgradation is costlier and never reach to everyone. Computer and net connection are still a dream for majority people and they are really hungry bookwarms. traditional books cannot be replaced by any means. One can read book at any time without any additional aids except sufficient light and will.

Hello, AugusYe. I think we have become more lazy and that is why we have these kindles, and other e-books. We have become too, fast paced to stop and read a book. Not saying that everyone is that way. It is just easier to access a computer than go to your local library. I know that for me, if I want to read a book, it is to the book store, or to the library. I dont remember ever reading a book online. Yes, I believe that the e-book will take over for those who have a fast paced life, and I am saying that for those who are just no up to going to public places to get real paper books. I know of a few people who use e-books who still read the "traditional" book. I just find it somewhat lazy. I dont know if that makes any sense, but technology has really taken over many aspects of our lives. I dont like it.

I like holding a physical book too. I don't mind reading small passages online. But I have a love for a physical magazine, which I most certainly don't care to read online, and I love the smell, feel and experience of an actual book. Plus, if it's a nice book, it makes for a good decorative ornament. I love a wooden bookshelf with books on it. It makes a home feel warm and like there are things to discover in all those pages.

Both have their pros and cons but I still want to hold a book on my hand when I read. Nothing beats the feeling of turning each page and wonder what happens on the next one. I know I sounded so traditional but that's just my take on the issue.
